Thanks John, I've sent away for a workshop manual should be here middle of next week.

The way this car is breaking down I think I'll need it.

Great news, MBenz are going to replace all (3) the mounts for nothing not going to cost me a penny.

Now that's what I call great service

Its slowly restoring my faith back owning a Benz.

Excellent news young fella .Well done.

I am interested to know if you have been told why the mounts failed?

You may be able to inspect them first hand when they are removed.

John.

Thanks John, Yes, very happy with the way I've been treated from the local dealership & MBenz, obviously there's a problem with the mounts and hopefully they have improved, and these new ones will be a hell of a lot better.

I don't know, I did ask, the answer I got was when they emailed Germany it flagged a fault in their system.

Have no idea how/why that would happen.

Yes, I will ask to see the old ones just see how worn they are, it won't happen for awhile though (7-10 days)they have to order them in there's none in Australia

Still waiting on a call from the local dealer regarding my mounts they obviously haven't received them as yet.

Talking to a close neighbor, he's also not happy, he has a 2010 C200 CGI (45,000 klm) and so far he has replace front and rear struts, two fuel filters a turbo,

I'm starting to wonder if I have made the right choice in buying a Merc, maybe I should have stayed with the throw away car (Hyundai)

I hope once you are over your present troubles you will enjoy having a Merc. I love the rear wheel drive traction, fuel economy & torque of the diesel, & the balance between handling & ride.

I have had mine for nearly 6 years & have done75,000 km . Have not had a major problem during warranty ,the worst being a slight weep on the gearbox shaft rear seal & absolutely nothing to complain about for the almost 3 years since ...touch wood.

I hope your neighbour had the faults repaired under warranty.

I think all modern cars are throw away now. Just some more than others Make sure you keep flushing that ATM on a regular basis

Gee I hope you're right, I also love the rear wheel drive and the diesel handling & ride.

I said to the wife, I'll trade it on a demo C250 CDI with plenty of warranty.

Well that didn't go down to well I got a mouth full

I just can't see the new mounts fixing this vibration I'm getting, hope I'm wrong.

Yes the neighbour had it all done under warranty.

I had the ATM flushed at 100,000 klm it cost me $450.00

There's and old saying you get what you pay for, however, in this case I haven't and neither has my neighbour

I had my new engine mounts replaced today for 0 $$$, looks like it’s fixed the vibration and the diesel seems to be a lot quieter.

I’ll let you know tomorrow as I never had time today just drove back from the dealership about 1 klm.

However it does appear to be 100% better, the engine mounts were completely shot and the transmission mount was resting that hard on the base on the mount it had started wearing a groove.

The mechanic said it was worse than he anticipated, the right one was allot worse than the left, he also mentioned the tranny mount should be looked at around 60,000 klm.

Thanks Phil,

Next time I have the under-panelling off I will give mine the once over. All seemed well at 60,000km.

Can't get over it had worn down to the metal . No wonder there was vibration.

There has to be a good reason for a 4 year old ,120,000 km car to have mounts in that state.

Good luck on the test run tomorrow.

I must admit I was shocked when the mechanic showed me the mounts they were completely stuffed,

He's got them boxed up ready to send back to MB to check out.

So cross my fingers nothing else goes wrong, as I said, the 1 klm drive back from the dealer, it drove like I imagine a merc should drive.

I'll know tomorrow when I take the wife up to hospital for a blood test on the freeway, I'm sure she'll let me know as she has mentioned on many occasions how noisy the diesel is.

Very please with the car, and the wife is not complaining about the noise of the diesel any more, it's as quiet as a church mouse.

I'd say the mounts were gone from day one at (96,000 klm,) as the car was a little noisy and I just put it down to it being a diesel how wrong I was, I'll know better next time.

It's a pleasure to drive now, must say thanks to MBenz for sticking by their product & the local dealership for their great service.

Great news . Persistence pays off. Hope you have a long & trouble free run.

I had a 100 km trip round trip today & was not in a hurry , travelling just under 100km/Hr . At best the fuel useage was showing 4.5 l/100 km. The new ones are much better I am told.

When I drove up from Brissy I averaged 5.2I/100 km just over the 100km/hr I had the car loaded very happy with the fuel economy.

Yeah, I've been told the same, must be the 7 speed gearbox. I'd love a C250CDI. but I'd have to convince the wife, she who must be obeyed

I become more comfortable with my car the longer I have it . Just like an old boot. Usually keep them for 14- 15 years . This one may be my last !!

I think the same about the wife,(not the old boot thing ) we have been married for 40 yrs, I don't wish to train another, so this could also be my last.

I like to think I can spoil myself one more time if i'm lucky though.

Hi Carsy just thought I'd let you know to check your tail lights if you haven't already.

I've had a problem with mine tend to burn out the Globe carrier and harness, I had them both replaced in October 2012 no charge and now again today no charge, they have upgraded the harness, so when I got home I pulled one side out and sure enough they look a lot better so I shouldn't have any more problems.

Check out my Pics here https://mbworld.org/forums/c63-amg-w...-issues-2.html

2008 C220 CDI
Phil,

I have discovered your thread with interest. I have a 2007 C220cdi with a rough idle problem. I have had a local mechanic look at the injection side of things and ended up with new injectors amongst other work. No change to idle problem but did sort out a smokey exhaust issue. There is a vibration at idle which completely disappears from just 50rpm above idle. Car drives beautifully at all other rev ranges. Car has 110000 Kim's.

Took it to a Benz dealer who diagnosed mounts. I'm not fully convinced but am currently sourcing mounts through MB Spares and will install myself.

Maybe From your experience I need to also look at the transmission mount.

Did you have a vibration at idle?

Hi Jeff

Yes I was getting the vibration at idle, the three (3) mounts were completely worn out and I was getting a vibration when accelerating up through 80klm and then it would disappear.

The transmission mount was the worst

I was quoted around two thousand dollars, M/Benz replaced them free of charge under good will
