Service in Fairfield County & Service B

All, new MB owner and new to forum. Tried to search, but couldn't find exactly what I'm looking for.

Purchased a 2011 C300 from MB of Greenwich a couple months back and already had 2 poor experiences with their service center. Now I am due for Service B. trying to decide if it needs to be done and if so where in the area to go, since I am never going back to MB of Greenwich for service.

Appreciate any help or thoughts.

Welcome to the forum, I have gone to Mercedes of Fairfield serveral times, but recently I havent been too happy. I feel like they always try to find an issue, I just had an alignment done after placing lowering springs on the car and after $200 was told it would cost another 200 to make perfect.

Thanks portchop002 for the reply. I naturally thought about Fairfield since they are the next closest to my house, but perhaps not. They are owned by Penske, which also owns MB of Greenwich, so maybe there is something to that. I'll probably look at MB of New Rochelle or White Plains. Thanks!

Called around a couple.

New Rochelle said I need B and it would be $475 plus tax. White Plains said based on mileage, time and looking at VIN that even though the car said I need B, I only need A, which is $225 plus tax. Next time, according to WP I would need their version of B which is over 1k.

WP also mentioned that I could do an MB prepaid maintenance that is like $699 for both services. Waiting on a email from them with details.

Any thoughts or experience?

I'm assuming that it means $699 + tax, but if it is $699 out the door, definitely do that! You could do A at WP and then B at NR and it would cost the same, but you would have to go to two separate dealers. Which dealer is closer to you? If distance isn't an issue I would do the $699 at WP through the mb prepaid thing, since doing both at one dealer might be easier than having to deal with multiple dealers.

Yes, definitely plus tax.

According to MB of White Plains, "When purchasing prepaid maintenance you can get your 30K service which is $225 plus tax along with your next service at 40K which is $1,218 plus tax. You are able to purchase these two services together as a package for $699 plus tax for both services, which does include the 40K service. If you purchase the pre paid maintenance package it saves you the total of $864 with tax included."

When I asked for more detail, I got "You are due for a 30K service which is going to be a synthetic
oil and filter change, checking all fluid levels and correcting them,
checking all tire pressures and correcting them, a brake pad inspection,
resetting the counter, and a world class which is $225 plus tax. Your next
service after the 30K is the 40K which is is going to be there bigger
service which is a synthetic oil and filter change, replacing the cabin
filter, replacing the air filter, a brake fluid change, auto transmission
fluid and filter change, checking all fluid levels and correcting them,
checking all tire pressures and correcting them, a brake pad inspection,
resetting the counter, and a world class inspection. This service costs
$1,218 plus tax. If you purchase the prepaid maintenance package that would
include both the A and B services for $699 plus tax which is 2 years or
20,000 miles whichever comes first."

When I asked why every other dealer had service B for under 500 bucks, they said "We do include the tranismission service due to the fact that Mercedes Benz
highly recommends it every 40K. Other dealerships do not include the
transmission service with the 40K service, they bill it separately." I'm working on confirming the last part.

So are they essentially saying they charge $700+ for a trans service? Seems nutty even if they do it properly.

I recently bought a CPO 2010 C250 with 25,000 km's on it (Canada). This is my first MB, so I'm not sure what to expect when I need service. How often must you have Service A and Service B on these cars?
Thanks,
Keith

For CodyC6, yes, that is exactly what they are saying, which alone seems ridiculous. I guess the key is that for $699 you would get a "normal" service A & B, plus the trans service. That might be worth it.

Everyone else is $225 for Service A and between $400-$500 for service B, so I'm actually now thinking that MB of WP for $699 including the trans service is a good deal.

Any thoughts out there?

For KeithMurch, it is mileage and time based. About every 10k miles from what I can tell. Generally service A, then B, then A again and so on.

Thanks BCarns for the info. So, it sounds like you simply alternate between A and B. Since my car was a CPO that was serviced by the MB dealership where I bought it, I guess I can rely on the service menu and just wait until the car tells me it is time for service. I wondered what to expect though, and your info has been helpful.

That's a stealer ship for ya! You got the car now you have to pay the tolls!

As for Keith, when you get it serviced expect it to be crazy expensive..

But yeah, even for an MB dealer $700 is a hell of a lot..

If you can get the transmission service package thing for $700 I'd do it though!

Agree with you ilumunus. I'm going to give it a shot. Attaching the "contract" for service in case anyone else is interested.
