Extended warranty 2010 c300 sport

My wife's car just had her factory warranty expire in November. Is it highly recommended to opt for the 3 extended warranty? Just yesterday the cel light came on and it was the thermostat code p0128. I used a reader to clear the code and it hasn't been on since. It also has been 0-20 degrees here lately in central NY. So that makes my wife freak out. Just wonder your all opinions on the extended warranty. Thanks a bunch.

Pete

If it's a 4MATIC, yes, go with the warranty if it's less than the price of a new transmission.

You didn't say how much they want for this warranty, but assuming it's reasonable, I'd say it's worth having. I am certainly glad we got it on ours. It has paid for itself many times over with all the things that broke on this car.

I have a 2008 Lux. It is not a 4-matic.

At 50K, I got all worried and popped $4K for the extended warranty. Dumb. The car has never burped -- not once in the three years since I bought the warranty. Now its out of warranty again. I feel like I just donated $4K to the dealership.

I guess if I had needed it, I'd feel differently, but the fact is, the car is well made, and if its maintained, the warranty will likely never be needed. Unless its a 4-matic.

That's a rather high price, I'd say. We paid $1650 for ours. It's a genuine MB extended warranty good up to 100K miles or 7 years (from the first in-service date).

It's hard to say how much I'd have to pay out of pocket for all the different things that went wrong with this car since the dealer never lists the prices when a warranty plan foots the bill, but I'm estimating it to be around $15K total (this includes various car computers, turn signal stalk assembly, motor mounts, entire COMMAND nav, transmission).

Granted, our C300 may have been more problematic than most. It's hard for me to say as my own experience is with only a sample of 1.

It's a 2010 c300 sport 4 matic. 33k miles. Are the transmissions prone to failing? It's just under $3000 for I believe 2 years, 24k miles but it's hardly driven that. Maybe 30-50 miles a week max it's driven

If you are looking at a 4-Matic, you MUST buy the warranty. Check the 4-matic threads here.

I just paid $4400 for 7 yrs 100k. I can cancel it. Where did you get yours for $1650? I have 2010 4matic.

I just got the P0128 code on my 2010 C300 at 54K miles. Bought a replacement from RM European for $95 and will change it.
