2013 C300 Driver Side DRL Failure

Hello Everyone!

Happy 2014! .

Anyway I did post about this back in October 2013. The Daytime Running LED on my Driver Side had a small rock chip on it. I left it alone because the dealer was asking way too much to change it out because physical damage is not covered. Don't know how this even happened, I guess the rock hit it at right spot and punctured the glass. And now there is water and condensation all inside of it. The dealer is asking $300.00 to replace it. That's ridiculous. They say that Mercedes will "laugh at them" if they send that in for warranty coverage whatever that means.

Its not under warranty because of the Rock Chip. The hole was big enough to allow water in and it has finally failed completely today.

Since the car is relatively new its virtually impossible to find any parts for it yet on eBay or any place else. Would you guys know of any sites I can go to or any junkyards or salvage yards in the New York City / Long Island Area where I can go to get this part? Or if any one here on MBWorld is looking to sell one for less that would be great!

All I need is just the glass portion of the LED strip itself because the housing is fine. The LED Glass portion is removable and can be replaced. The Dealer does not sell that component separately. They sell the entire assembly together.

Keep in mind that this is the the 2012 facelift model with the DRL so it is incredibly easy to remove. The 2011 model is the one that requires the removal of the front bumper however for 2012-2014 it just unscrews with a HEX screwdriver.

Happy New Year All! And Thanks In Advance!

When I get back I'll post some pictures of it.

Thanks

You can check out this one on ebay . They are aftermarket set of 2 projector headlights and 2 DRL for about $394 . You can probably sell the 2 headlights for $300 if you don't want it . Good luck.

Doesn't the 2014 use the same part as the 2012/13 model? Most of your car is just like the 2012/13 - not brand new hard to find parts. Just find one of the cheap MB dealers online and order it. Simple as that.

Any one have a site where I can go to order it? I'll check Parts.com and Leomforder (sp) to see if I can find one. If I can find the LED glass strip that's all I need because the housing is still fine it's the LED Lights inside the strip that have failed.

Will This Work:

http://www.genuinemercedesparts.com/...agramCallOut=1

The thing is it does not include the housing. At least according to the part diagram. Its jus the LED portion. When i took the housing out, it seemed like it was fairly difficult to seperate the LED from the Housing. Is this the correct part to order?

Thanks!

If I were looking to order that part, I would say it was the whole housing just without the mesh backing.

I'm going to place the order today, but the thing is, is it possible to seperate the mesh backing from the housing? If they sell that part alone then I would say that it is possible but then again, who knows haha. Any thoughts before I place the order?

Thanks!

It's absolutely possible to separate the 2. When you get the new one you'll see tabs where it all snaps together. Pry the clips away just a little bit to separate the 2. If you have any questions, feel free to take a couple pictures of the parts and we can point them out to you.
