2014 Lexus ES350 or MB C-300?

If you go with the C250, you might have to search for your car. C250 Luxury models are RARE. I lucked out...my dealer had ONE that was there for a few months that happened to be equipped the way I wanted. But based on my limited experience, your dealer might have to find one for you. Lux models are rare, and then to find one optioned the way you want is not easy.
I've always been curious to know the ratio of Sport to Lux manufacturing specs for North America. Or, Avant Garde vs. Elegance in the rest of the world...

Roughly 90% Sport in the US. Mike, if you choose the 250, ask the dealer to search the locator. Dealers south of you in nearby states will be increasingly more likely to have C250 and less so for C3004Matic. My car was a dealer locator find from 5 states away. It was trucked over in two days.

Hey Mike, if you're worried about turbos (on the C250) - don't be! I put 80,000 miles on a VW 1.8 turbo, 65,000 on an Audi A4 1.8 turbo and 70,000 on an Audi A4 2.0 turbo with never a problem experienced from new in each case.
And my current car is a W204 C Class turbo now 5 years old, albeit a diesel turbo, that has 58,500 miles on it from when I got it new. Never an issue on highways, freeways, country roads and just around town Don't knock it till you try it - you can't beat turbo power and economy!

I should have added that my turbo Forester had over 130,000 miles on it without a turbo failure when I sold it.

C300 4matic
Mike
I do a daily commute of 50 miles and I still choose a 2011 Certified C300 4matic. I spent two months searching for the right car. I have own the car three weeks, I purchased it used with 25K miles on it with a clean car fax. The cost was $26K I paid for three prepaid maintenance and the car came with a 5yr 100K mile warranty. Also the financing was 1.9% with my first two months paid by MB.
I have own a lot of different cars over the past 45+ years, and when you come to these forums you find a lot of complaints, but never a lot of praise for the vehicle. As some people have stated, you never know what you are going to get with any mechanical item you buy. In the old days they would say not to buy a car made on Mondays or Fridays because the workers were not paying attention.
I like to purchase used car because I don’t take the big hit at the beginning and I usually buy the last year of the body style. I find that by the time the car maker is ready to change the current car has all the bugs worked out and there is enough information to solve any problem.
And this won’t be your last car, if you’re a car guy you know there’s always a Ferrari out there waiting for you.

I did it!
Well thanks for all of your help. I orderd my C300 yesterday and was told it was the last day to order. It gets built around the end of January, start of Febuary and a few weeks to come across the pond.
Palladium Silver, almond MB -Tex, luxury sedan. Lighting package, premium 1Package, Multimedia Pakage, lane tracking and Keyless-Go
Can't wait!

Same color as my '12 C300 Luxury. Mine doesn't have the multimedia package and keyless-go though.

I've been watching here, but have to add that I hope and truly think that you will love the C300. Keep the maintenance by the book, especially the transmission fluid and I suspect you will be driving it for a very long time.
Mine is going on 6 years now, and 80K miles. It is still my "new" car. Every time I drive it I fall in love with it again.

well maybe sad news. Dealer just called me and said MB has cut off the ordering process. They claim to have found one still in production, but with Steel Gray and a Pano roof. That cost more money, so I am stoping by today to talk to the sales manager to see what they can do. I had looked at the steel grey also but liked the Palladium better

I like the Steel Gray too. It's a bit more blue, and obviously darker. Certainly not a bad color. Iridium Silver is nice too. Of course, Palladium is the best of both worlds
Good luck!

The Steel Grey is a very smart if dangerous colour. Our W204 was Palladium. Nice thing about Palladium is that the car can be remarkably dirty & still looks OK.

2012 C300 4Matic
Hi there guys,
i just purchased my first Mercedes C300 2012 CPO last Friday. Looking at the forum now i'm scared about the transmission failure. I have 3 more years of warranty. do you think it makes sense to purchase extended warranty for couple more years?

I've noticed that thus far. Steel over Ash was my second choice; that combination offers better visual contrast over Palladium/Ash but I'm still happy with my choice.

Reason being, a lot can happen in 3 years. Your car may be totalled, or you may just decide you don't want it anymore and will ditch it. So, no point in buying the warranty until your factory warranty is about to expire.

Sure, an extended warranty that covers the drivetrain would be a decent idea, but not now. Wait until factory warranty is close to expiring. So many things can happen in three years...why not keep the money in an interest account and buy the warranty later?
