I was about to do the same but as the voltage to the DRL.s vary with light sensor input I discarded that idea.
With the current wiring I have the very same functions as if I would have installed the kit by the book, but with the exeption that it is permanetly lit when it is dark.

Hi
It's my first post, I'm looking to have illuminated star on my 2016 GLE350, I know it's not the right subforum but wanted to ask since it's the threat that has most of the post
ebay has too many versions of the illuminated star, I'm not sure if it's worth buying the original one from MB (around $222), but I read that you need to buy few extra stuff to make it illuminate every time parking light is on
I'm a noob here so if it requires soldering or something I'd have someone do it for me

W204 LIGHT UP STAR INSTALL ILLUMINATED STAR FUSE TAP OR WIRE TO A SWITCH
THIS IS HOW I WOULD INSTALL THE STAR , TO A 2 PRONG SWITCH AND SO U HAVE FULL CONTROL AND NO WORRIES ABOUT BATTERY DRAINAGE
AND W204S DON OT TURN TO RELEASE THE STAR EMBLEM YOU PRY IT OUT FROM THE LOWER CLIPS, AND THE TOP LONGER CLIPS ARE THERE TO HELP HOLD IT IN PLACE
ONCE YOU PRY THE LOWER CLIPS IT WILL JUST PUSH RIGHT OUT AS SHOWN HERE
JUST BUY THE WHOLE ASSEMBLY ...NO NEED TO TAKE YOUR STAR APART JUST BUY THE EMBLEM WITH ALREADY PRE WIRED PLUG ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS WIRE IT TO A 12V POWER SOURCE
WHICH EVER YOU CHOOSE EASIEST WOULD BE FUSE TAP INTO ENGINE BAY FUSE BOX I AM STRONGLY AGAINST CUTTING ANY FACTORY WIRES UNLESS YOU ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO

I've tried over and over again my cls 550 is a 2008 and the star emblem is 6 inched diameter o can't one that size at all

sorry buddy after a closer look seems like its only for the newer model but I'm sure these will be very close to yours and would just need a slight mod to make it fit rather then having to use putty or some filler to mount it...
