2014 C350 Resonator Delete and X-Pipe Install (with YouTube video)

Just finished stage one, of my exhaust upgrade project, today. I'm sure many of the forum users in Los Angeles have fond memories of dealing with AAA Exhaust on La Cienega back in the day. Unfortunately, the guy who ran the shop, Pepe, left a few years ago. Thanks to information from another forum member, I tracked them down!

Pepe and Luis @ Hi-Flow Mufflers in Long Beach, CA - (562) 591-2280. I first started using Pepe and Luis almost 10 years ago. No one has done my exhaust work since then.

Today Luis installed my Magnaflow 2.5" X-Pipe (Part # 10789). He added piping to neck down the diameter to match the 2.25" piping. I originally wanted to add bottle style resonators, but he talked me out of it. I'm glad he did! The sound is sublime. Absolutely no drone. At idle, the car is the same, around 2k-3k it has more throat and volume, 4k-6k it REALLY comes alive.

Now I've got a C63 diffuser and brackets on order. Once that arrives, Luis will be installing a quad exhaust setup and new mufflers. I'll update with a video when that's finished.

For now, I hope you enjoy! Turn up your volume!

C63 diffuser and brackets arrived along with the first set of tips. Here's the first placement test. I'm very happy with what I'm seeing so far. These are 3.5" stainless steel, single wall, rolled edge tips.

Those round tips are sick! You should consider deleting your 2nd cats, too.

Thanks! I know the secondary cats are basically resonators and I was tempted to remove them. But, technically, it's part of the catalytic system, hence the name, right? I think as long as i'm "cat back" they can't raise any fits warranty wise.

That said, I'm researching muffler options like crazy. It's been hard to find a Mercedes appropriate universal muffler solution. All the top brands are full axle or cat back products with tips included. Any ideas?

Is it legal to have the 2nd cat deleted? I had my x-pipe installed the other day at Midas and I forgot to ask.

My vote goes to removing the 2nd cats. I LOVE mine. And you're right. They're only resonators. They shouldn't void warranty if removed, and if they did, the dealer would have to prove that the removal of the 2nd "cats" was the problem.

If you go to a shop and word it as "Can you remove my 2nd cats?", I don't think most shops would do it. Just tell them to remove your two small resonators.

Hmm... I'm going to have to check out the secondary cats when I'm getting the tips installed. If I can find a clean solution to drop them back in as needed, I might go for it.

The tips are from Summit Racing. Jones Exhaust, probably a cheap 304 stainless. Each tip is $18.25. Four shipped for around $80. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/je...07ss/overview/

Oh thanks for the quick feed back, and since you have the X-Pipe I would say just go for the Magnaflow Mufflers as well it sounds great.

Finally got the C63 diffuser and brackets installed. The hardest part was actually getting the upper clip of the brackets to snap in. This has to be done after you insert the diffuser tab into the bumper.

Parts:

C63 Diffuser: A 204 885 39 38
C63 Left Bracket: A 204 885 46 14
C63 Right Bracket: A 204 885 47 14
Blind Rivet for Sides: A 003 990 94 97

Tomorrow the quad tips get installed. More updates to come...

Sweet. I'm doing the same thing soon. I'm still deciding between the stock C63 diffuser and a CF one though.

Quad tips are in! I'm going to drive around for a week or two and then have everything tweaked. The sound is slightly different. I'll have a video up next.

Guys, Any of you know if MF makes test-pipes for C 350? I mean you guys are already talking about removing the "2nd resonator", wouldn't it be better to remove both and go with Test - pipe vs. the X-Pipe? just saying, And yes perhaps it voids warranty, but i'm willing to live with that. Any suggestions? if not MF maybe another brand?

BTW car looks and sounds awesome Coolal.
