Dealer said I have torn motor mounts on my 08 C300. Never heard of this issue

So I was in the dealer for a checkup and they said I have 3 broken motor mounts and can replace for 890 as well as a leaking centrifuge fixed for 260.

My warranty just expired last month but the repair costs arnt too high but I'm more concerned because I did a search and it seems unheard of that a C300 has this issue. Barely found any info.

How many miles on the car? Motor mounts do eventually need replacing but I've never heard the term "torn" when it came to motor mounts. Usually they're just flat worn out but not broken. Do you notice vibrations when the engine is on? Also, try the brake torquing test to see if the engine jumps too much as that would be a good indicator you need new mounts. Those items are not usually an issue until 100k or so.

I would try and have it checked out by a 2nd party before spending that much on repairs.

74k miles. Car is maintained always up to date and this was told to me buy a very prestigous MB dealer in Chicago. They had it checked twice on 2 different days to confirm they are torn. I notice slight vibration when car is in drive or reverse when holding the brake.

FYI: MY car is RWD with 18 inch C63 wheels and been lowered for 20k miles. Incase it has any effect on the torn mounts because my car is stiffer.

Im getting a 2nd opinion at another MB dealer on friday.

P.S I might have worded it wrong. Not sure if they said torn but they said all 3 broken.

Motor mounts are made of rubber so they get worn out and shredded sometimes. Tears can happen to the rubber

It's very possible the mounts are torn/bad....especially driving on the ****ty chicagoland roads.

If you do get them replaced Speedriven in Palatine will do it for 1/2 the price you quoted.

I've torn motor mounts before on other cars. Typically luxury cars have really soft mounts to reduce NVH, but that means they are easy to break if you accelerate hard much. You like to brake torque and launch the car by chance?

Yes I've braked torqued maybe 5 timed just for fun and always accelerate hard usually every single time I drive. Since I did the amg exhaust conversion the nice sound makes me drive more aggressive

Urban, I have replace a bunch of sets on your year C for some vibration issues. Not very common but still can go bad. See what the price on a new set is, I may have an extra set of brand new factory mounts Ill sell to you if your interested and can find someone out there to install them
