Playing music without opening screen

I have a 2008 C350 with MM/NAV and I'm wondering if there is there any way to turn the radio on or load a cd, after start up, without turning the screen on and having it rotate open? I know that once it's open and playing you can close it but I'd like to play a cd or radio without having to open and close it, if possible.

Yes, its possible. After all is done, there two bottoms in the middle where the navi screen is. I believe it's the one on the right.

Hey thanks. I've found those buttons, the left one tilts and the right one will close the screen completely, keeping the audio playing. What I'm wondering though, and maybe I wasn't too clear, is - 1)I turn my car on, navigation screen stays down 2) I want to start playing the radio/cd/ipod, WITHOUT opening the screen. Is there a way to bring the audio up without pressing the power button on the radio itself or the top button on the top of the screen??? I don't want to have to open the flip up screen just to have the radio start playing.

Lol, nah, just scared that after a lot of opening and closing the motors might go out, plus I like the gauge cluster control of the radio better - would rather just have the radio start up automatically without having the whole screen flip up.

If you press the button on the right like the OP said it will close the flip screen and the radio will still be fully functional (change stations, volume control etc). The next time you turn the car on it will stay closed until you open it again by pressing the button on the top.

You're right, I just tried and when I started the car up my ipod started playing. Is there a way to switch to the radio or cd while keeping the screen closed? At least it starts up playing the last known audio source so that's enough to make me happy.

Yes there is a way you can change the source without reopening the screen.

1. Press the buttons on the centre console.
2. Use the voice command (I prefer this).

Only thing is if you have a backup cam installed no matter what you do the screen will flip on when you go to reverse so it will defeat the purpose of closing it down.
