What is the CURRENT prevailing wisdom re led taillight updating?

What is the CURRENT prevailing wisdom re led taillight updating?
If you want to update an 09 to post facelift LED tails, without buzzing or a bunch of resistors etc, are there any good options other than OEM? Are these things still needing a new SAM or recoding?

Please dont tell me to search. I have. I know there are tons of threads, but they also have a bunch of conflicting info and are spread out over a couple of years and I suspect the newer ones are better than the original repros - by a lot. I've answered a ton of questions on MBWorld so I just wanna be able to ask and find out for a change. THanks for understanding.

If you have a 2009 you can still get your SAM reprogrammed if you can find a tech with older DAS. Grab the PDF here and give it to the tech. If you look at post 15, he did it in march and I went to a tech last month and he was able to see the menu on a friends 2009 c63 since he had a 2008 DAS.
Your other option is a SAM from a 2012+ which is the route I went since reprogramming is not possible on 2010-2011.
As far as aftermarket tails, they still have resistors and some buzzing (although to me they were hardly noticeable). I bought one a few months ago and returned them.

I would assume so but the harder part is finding a tech with older DAS. Also the issue is with the brake light and fogs. I think that's what you meant when you said reverse.

Thanks Aznmode. I have to think that the best bet re tech with older DAS (whatever that is) would be one of those old German mechanic places who has a bunch of 1998 E class in the parking lot. Every town has a few of those

The tech I found actually used to work for Mercedes as a tech and he kept his stuff and opened up his own shop. He's actually not that old. Probably in his late 30s early 40s. He had a 2008 DAS software. It's diagnostic (something) software. He's shop is a performance shop. But they also do maintenance service. Maybe look for something like that in your area. He's in the bay area so I'm not sure how close that is to you. I'm on mobile version of the site so I can't see if you put your location on here.

BTW a member is looking for a fog light socket. I dug up an old thread i posted in about fog lights and you bought a fog light from parts.com based off that thread just as I did. Do you happen to still have the socket?
