X-Pipe + Muffler Delete or Muffler Delete Only?
Getting my exhaust done tomorrow am and need to know what to tell the guy!
He is suggesting to delete mufflers only and leave the resonator! I asked for x pipe + muffler delete and he is strongly suggesting against it!
He says you will get a lot of drone if you do both but a meaner sound if you only delete the mufflers!
I am so lost and don't know what to ask for!
What do you guys suggest? I figured I can do mufflers only for now and if I don't like it add some Borla or Magnaflow! If I still don't like it I could as a last resort install the X-Pipe...
Decisions decisions

I wouldn't take blanket suggestions very seriously, it's very unlikely he knows what both sound like on your car. Read what people have done on the forums. Watch videos on Youtube. Figure out what you want, and do it. I can tell you that deleting mufflers will have a much larger effect than deleting your resonator, and the most common route is replacing your resonator with an xpipe and/or deleting the secondary cats. Very few people completely delete their mufflers.
Everything that you've stated so far sounds backwards. In order of increasing loudness, it's generally:
Stock < Resonator Delete w/ xpipe < Resonator Delete w/ xpipe and secondary cat delete < Aftermarket Hi-flow mufflers < Muffler delete < muffler delete + resonator delete w/ xpipe < Completely straight piped
So depending on how loud you want it, pick somewhere on that spectrum.

You should do x-pipe in place of resonator and leave mufflers. Good sound, not too loud, no drone. I did xpipe + no mufflers for awhile, although it sounded really mean and loud, it droned like crazy and my ears started to hurt.
Or go for a pre made set up like meisterschaft or eisenmann or carlsson even

X-Pipe alone = Barely any sound.
X-Pipe + 2nd cat delete = Noticeable raspy sound, minimal drone, loud over 4k RPMS
Would recommend not doing a full muffler delete and straight pipe...would be extremely loud.
Never done the delete mufflers, leave all resonators...sounds promising.

Seems like everyone has mixed ideas! I'll go with muffler delete and record tons of videos to report back to you guys.
I hope it's what I am looking for but who knows!
I am more exited about the diffuser and tips getting installed lol

Literally everyone in this thread said xpipe and/or secondary cat delete, and not touching your mufflers. There are no mixed ideas. It sounds like you had your mind made up before you made this post, which is weird because you've already made two threads about the topic.
If you care at all about drone, don't touch your mufflers.

I have them installed on my E and have seen them on a couple c350s and I think they sound amazing actually, especially compared to when stock mufflers are next to quiet. C63 mufflers have such an exotic raspy sound that I don't see how anyone could find them restrictive lol. I'm glad I picked one of them up a few years ago when prices were still lower.

Oh absolutely, I'd recommend c63 mufflers any day if someone prefers minimal drone while cruising and great sound during WOT. Then again xpipe and muffler delete is by far the cheapest option for OP and for anyone really, so if that doesn't work out to his liking, he can play around with 2nd cats as well.

Done and very happy with the results.
Not as loud as i expected it to be. Remember i only took of the mufflers.
Not sure where you guys are getting the whole "if you want drone do it" deal. Just drove 20 miles on the highway back to work and there is no drone at all. If i am driving 60-80 i wouldn't even be able to tell i have any exhaust modification. My CLK350 with magnaflow and no Res sounded much louder.
For anyone who is worried about drone and wants to go this way feel free. Sound is nice and loud at WOT and if you push it hard on the highway.
Will get some sound clips for you guys soon and upload them.
In the meantime here is a pic.

Quick video i took driving home tonight. The wind kind of kills the sound but you can tell there is NO drone here. Need to adjust the settings on the the GoPro to get a better sound quality next time. More to come...

I have straight pipes. Removed the resonators and mufflers. It reminds me of my buddies BMW 335i but slightly louder when floored. It's not a beautiful sound but I have more satisfaction from hearing the revs now.
