The listing called it a 2012, 2013, 2014 upper steering column /clock spring. I hope this will work. I have a pretty good feeling it will, based on the info I read.
Roger that Chris.
I found a steering column (clock spring) and I went and purchased it. Here is the picture of it above. What is your opinion Sir? Thanks for helping me in this. -FB

Well yesterday I received the upper steering column (clock spring) in the mail and today I went and installed it. I got everything together and ka-boom my airbag went off! No, I'm just kidding. EVERYTHING WORKS!!! Even the paddle shifters, which I wasn't expecting to work at all! Chris the Swede, you were right! Everything works as advertised! I am one happy customer! If you come to the USA Chris I will buy you a beer. Who'd would of thought that one simple piece of the puzzle would fix it all? For me, I thought I was throwing my money away on a mod that wasn't going to work. But now, put me down as a success story for this mod. To recap, all my functions on the steering wheel works, to include the horn.
Had a 2011 C300 4Matic steering wheel with no paddle shift.
Replaced with 2013-15 steering wheel with paddle shift and a 2012-2015 upper steering column (clock spring).

Bingo Finally!
Just like the happy customer above, I also received the whole kit from Chris The Swede today and this included the FL steering wheel matching airbag and clock-spring, so even before I got home I told my son to receive the package with caution as it made it from Sweden to Australia (in record time I might add) and I didn't want the airbag to blow in my son's face
As soon as I got home, I fitted everything and when I turned on the ignition I was happily surprised that everything worked fine, including the steering lights. I wasn't as lucky as our friend above, as the paddle shifters didn't work, but am not too worried about them, as I doubt I will ever use them anyway.
Thanks Chris for your help with this and this proves that the previous set-up I bought locally here in Sydney was indeed faulty or not matching. Cheers!

I spoke too soon. Just took the car for a drive and the ESP Malfunction light came on which I believe is directly related to the steering angle sensor. Does that mean I didn't sit the steering wheel in it's position correctly or does it mean that the steering angle sensor in the column is faulty?
Actually, upon further checking everything has stopped working all of a sudden after the first drive. None of the steering controls or horn are functioning anymore. I think the clock-spring is faulty or has developed a fatal fault (as my luck would have it).
Not happy at all now.

Just put the old steering and clock spring back and all working correctly which proves that there is something wrong with the "new" clock-spring. Something has happened to the internals of it and it's no longer communicating with the new steering
Chris: Please help mate, I have had more than my share of bad luck with this modification

Well, Yes you broke it..Very comon mistake. You didnt align it corectly..Thats why you got the ESP waring first. That would have been a warning for you thet it was not corectly installed..And snapped of the spring cable conection...Sadly. I just fixed one by welding the cables back inside the spring. So its possible but a bit fiddly.

Didn't align what correctly Chris? The steering or the clock-spring? Nothing in this entire thread talk about clock-spring alignment and everyone is talking about making sure the steering is aligned with the marks which is what I have exactly done. It's strange that I have taken off the original steering wheel and clock-spring off more than 5 times now trying to get things to work with the previous purchase and not a single time I got this problem. I couldn't have fluke it 5 times! I do agree with you that something has snapped off, as I did hear a crunch this morning when I started driving and turned the steering for the first time, but the ESP error came on as soon as I started the car. What can we do now? I'm almost tempted to send the whole car to you from Australia to Sweden LOL

Disappointing is an under-statement, am totally pissed off with myself for such a stupid mistake 😡
Considering i I have removed the steering wheel close to 5 times already trying all the different set ups, I should've known better.
I know the ribbon can be fixed but unfortunately for me in Australia they won't touch it as it's illegal to repair any airbag related part, so now I have to find or rely on Chris to help me find just the clock spring with the ribbon piece instead of having to buy an entire new column. More waiting and more frustration 😞
One expensive lesson for sure!

Hey Aussie and Chris,
HELP!!!!!!!!! Everything that Aussie just describe has happened to me. Everything he explained/described has happened to me. What did I do wrong!?!? NOTE: The reason I didn't post sooner is I was away on Military exercise and I was off the net. I did the install and after the first drive which was to drive to my departure area at my base I had the ESP warnings etc. Horn don't work, the buttons don't work, you get the picture. I was steaming mad because I had to wait to get back from the exercise to address this. How ironic that Aussie had the same issue. So did I break something on the install? Alignment? You said it was a very common mistake, so it sounds like there is a fix? Aussie, what did Chris send you? (PM) on regarding this fix? Chris, can you help me out, Sir? Thanks in advance, Anthony
*Note: I have removed & returned the used clock spring. I'm going to buy a new one just under $400.00, but I want to know how not to botch the install. Jeepers, this mod is getting expensive. I am at my wits end. I sure would hate to put that original/ugly steering wheel back on.

Yes you broke it..Was not aligned when you installed it. ESP waring is the first clue it is not.

Yep just like Chris said, I didn't pay attention to the alignment and centering of the clock spring because the previous one I tried was already centered when I bought it. I have opened it all up and saw the tear in the ribbon, so I have sent just the clock spring that houses the ribbon that makes all steering controls to work to Chris to repair and when he sends that back to me I'll be extra careful this time and yes, it has turned into The most expensive mod I have done on the car, even more expensive than the quad system lol 😂
i feel for you mate mate and I know how pissed off you're but it can be fixed .... by Chris lol 😂

OEM packaging.
Brand new Multifuction switch/clock spring.
New Multifuction switch.
I'm assuming this "red" piece is removable?
Inside and part#
Hey Chris, The part arrived! So, before I jack up this brand new Multifunction switch / Clock spring part. What do I need to do before or at the time of install so I don't break my tape/electrical band. Aussie mentioned that I must make sure the alignment must be centered and the tape is not pulled / teared out or collected or bunched up to one side. I assuming that because this clock spring it is brand new, that the tape is centered, right? As for the "red" tab / piece in the center, that gets removed? Much thanks Chris. -Anthony

Installed........................and it works. After a bit of trial and error, install goof ups I finally got it right. Chris, thanks again for your excellent advise and your technical expertise. Aussie, props to you as well. I hope your mod will have a happy ending. In the end, it took just buying a brand new steering wheel/clock spring and ensuring that the alignment was dead on. All the button functions work and even the paddle shifters work, even though my C300 did not have this option originally. I am really happy with the result, after all the issues I had made this victory more sweet. I even took it for a short drive with the radio off and listen to for unusual noise in the steering column. Of course I have one issue that needs addressing and that is the Airbag light is still on. Hey Chris how do I get rid of the ESP malfunction. Do I need to get my C300 to a Mercedes dealership to reset this feature? I wasn't sure if this malfunction would clear out after the install or it would need to be reset by a maintenace. (I hope it just needs resetting, can you imagine if I misaligned this one! Yikes!) But I am sure that isn't the case. I was able to use my steering wheel to look up some vehicle data. I have no idea what some of this info is. Again Chris, thanks again sir. Look forward to your input on the ESP indicator. -Anthony

Good result, well done! My turn soon after Chris sends me back the repaired clock-spring.
I was able to re-set my ESP light manually by turning the steering wheel lock to lock 5 times but since you now have the airbag light on, you can only re-set that at the dealership or a mechanic that has the right coding tool, they will also re-set your ESP light at the same time.
