I'm looking to purchase either a 2008 C350 with 55k miles or a 2009 Jaguar XF Premium with 59k miles.
Both vehicles are salvaged titles due to accidents and have been repaired.
Both will be inspected by dealer for issues
The Mercedes is in great condition both inside and out with AMG chrome rims, no nav, no backup camera
The Jag looks to be in great condition on the outside but the front seats are pretty warn, has 22" rims, loaded with nav & backup cam
Price on the Benz is $14,000 (Good condition KBB=$19,378)
Price on the Jag is $15,000 (Good condition KBB=$21,306)
If I end up purchasing the Benz I'm going to put $1k into the car by buying a C63 style front body kit and installing front and rear euro lights. The bodyshop I'd be buying the car from said they would install and paint for $200 which is another benefit.
From what I've read it seems the Jag drives better but I'm a little concerned with Jags resale value if I plan on only keeping it for a few years. I love the touch screen tech in the jag but like the interior condition and color better in the Mercedes. Would like some feedback as to what you would do.
front body kit & lights I would add

Reason: add upgrade pics
If this is of concern to you, go for the merc, the Jags are 3x more expensive to fix and they are JUNK!!! I hardly see Mercedes for repairs compared to anything else Euro. BMWs are always broken down. This is why I chose Mercedes over anything else.

Appreciate the feedback! Posted on the Jag forum as well and Jag owner recommended the Benz as well.
My brother has an XF as well. Much bigger than the C class and a lot more tech inside. However, as said, expensive to repair. He bought his nearly new with less than 10,000 miles on the clock... The engine blew at 20,000 lol, just as the warranty ran out...!
Needed a brand new engine at £9000! Luckily jaguar only made my bro pay 2k and they forked out the rest. Good luck with your choice.
XF is on pair with the E class and BMW 5 so hard to compare with a C class
Doa, are you saying that the C class isn't even in the same league or more its just hard to compare because C class is more sporty? Both cars are pretty even to me but I'm looking for feedback on which has the better value assuming I plan on keeping the car for maybe 2 years.

Thanks everyone for the feedback!
the cars serve a different segment which makes it hard to compare.
what are you looking for in a car?
I'm surprised no one has commented on the fact that both cars are salvaged. Once salvaged, it is no longer a paper stat comparison between car A or car B. It is now between the body shop work quality of car A vs car B.
Also, I do not consider the cars in the same class. This is like asking E vs C and it basically comes down to 1st, what size car do you want? It doesn't matter if one car has better value if the intended purpose doesn't fit.
OP knows it a salvage title. So with that being said OP will be juggling lemons. On a side note although this Jag is in a different class the the C, this Jags interior is nothing to run home to. All it's got on the Mercedes is power. It's not even attractive in the inside. Not to mention they are over priced. XJ is however the only one I would consider because the interior is simply bad ***!! But at the end they are still JUNK!
resale values on salvaged titles is pretty much junk anyways. So he's planning on driving the car till the wheels fall off. I personally would go with the Mercedes because it'll be cheaper to fix and modify. A lot easier to get parts for a c class compared to a Jaguar too I would imagine. Is there any other cars around that price range that don't have salvaged titles?

Good point on the parts as that makes a lot of sense. On the resale value I think what I mentioned above is that I need to be low enough below standard book that when people are shopping around the price on the salvaged is low enough it makes sense (like me). My last 3 cars have been $60k+ so it would be nice not having something without a payment. Thanks again for the help!
