FWIW, I ordered a set of these from through eBay a couple of weeks ago. They arrived pretty quickly and fit my C300 Sport well. At $70 is was worth the risk. Not sure if I'm going to paint them or not.

The fronts attach using two stock plastic expansion studs at the bottom and two screws at the top. The screws have to be drilled: one into the plastic wheel well liner and one into the rolled edge of the fender. I guess you could skip the fender screw but the fitment would be loose.
The rears attach with stock expansion studs (2), a bolt and a screw.
You could take put them on/off for different seasons but in my experience plastic expansion studs do not fair well with repeated use and will fail or break. I am sure your experience could be different.

Here are some pics of the coverage you'll get with the flaps. Please note the splashes you see on the lower fender were there before I installed the flaps. I only cleaned off the area where they were going to be mounted. As far as coverage goes, I guess they could be a little longer and a little wider but they will keep the majority of junk off the car.
