H&R Special Springs
Hello All,
While I was getting my tints done at a local shop I asked about the pricing of installing springs. I told them I was interested in the H&R super sports and they mentioned that they can special order a set of H&R springs which sit even lower than the super sports and the flares would be flush with the tires. After all the browsing I have done on the forum I have not seen anyone mention these special H&R springs. The shop specializes in vip style cars and have a few bagged benzs. I was just curious if these exist and if anyone has heard about them?
Thanks!

Don't do it. The super sports as is are very harsh and uncomfortable. Unless you live in warm weather with absolutely perfect roads. Here in MI, I'm even thinking of going back to stock just to get away from the jarring ride the super sports provide.

The problem is that the shorter the spring, the less travel the shock has and thus it has much shorter absorption. So any slightly bigger imperfection on the road than say an inch or two, will violently jerk the car.
Just stay away from overly aggressive springs if you value any ride comfort.
When I was in my early 20s, I didn't mind it as much because I was willing to sacrifice ride comfort for looks. It turns out nowadays I'm not as much.

Don't companies sell softer shocks to help with lowering springs?
I normally run coilovers. I did run H&R SS on my 2008 C300 and did notice a slight difference in ride quality. But I'm only 26 so I still lean towards looks over ride. But I must say I'm still running factory setup in my 2013 C250 and it is nicer then the ride was in my 2008 C300.

I think your statement should have read that the springs were too harsh for you, not in general, as it works perfectly fine for me and my family. And I live in Hong Kong, we don't have the best roads here either.

I'll have to disagree with you here, I run H&R SS springs with Bilstein B8 shocks, my wife never once complained even while she was pregnant, my newborn falls fast asleep riding in the car, even my mother doesn't complain and she hates modified cars.

LOL, you're comparing HK to MI? In HK you rarely see anything below 10*C, where in MI we constantly get around 0*F. Do a Google image search for HK potholes and MI potholes. The US has road conditions of a third world country, especially the states that have harsh winters.

What does temperature have to do with it now? And I'm from New York originally so don't talk to me about poor MI potholes lol, ours are crater sized literally. And you'd have to come to HK to see that we really do have some ****ty road conditions in certain areas, some which you cannot avoid. We also have what they call speed strips where parts of the road are not smooth on purpose to promote driving slower.

Sounds like aside from a few random people most would agree that the super sports are only slightly harsher than stock?
Wife's asking if lowering the car is going to be stiff, but her Volvo was on H&R Coilovers for years so I can't imagine she's going to complain. It just rides so nice stock I don't want to ruin that.
