Extended Warranty
Does anyone have insight/suggestions for an extended warranty? My factory warranty is up in November and I want to get something in place- MB, AAA, anyone have recommendations? Thanks!

We bought our 2014 with an extended warranty from National. Was $3600 and after talking with my buddy who is a SA for BMW Seattle he confirmed it covers just about everything you would expect.
10 year / 100k warranty so covers us well beyond the timeline we will likely keep this car. This is our first Mercedes and just didn't feel like ever worrying about replacing one of the many expensive parts on these cars. Peace of mind is worth it to me.

I was in the same position - mine also expires in November.
Upon doing my research, I found that the Mercedes-Benz Extended Limited Warranty covers more than 99% of warranties, has no deductible, and is accepted at all MB dealerships. Aftermarket warranties do not cover as much unless they are exceedingly expensive (more than the MB), most often have a deductible, and are not universally accepted.
For me, extending the warranty to 7 years/100k miles covers me for an additional 17k miles/year. I called all the recommended dealerships - Tafel Motors, MB of Austin, and MB of Santa Rosa. Erin Mahre at MB Santa Rosa gave me the best price, which was $3010 out the door.

I went with the MB extended protection on my car. The reasoning was really straightforward for me...
* The warranty carried no deductible so I wouldn't have to be paying out of pocket for warranty repairs small or large. Especially since this added perk didn't really cost me extra since the MB warranty was less than competing warranties I looked at.
* The warranty is fully refundable until the new vehicle warranty runs out. This came in handy because I ended up slipping out on Black Ice getting off the highway and totaled my car ~90 days after getting it. The warranty was fully refunded without a hitch.
* The warranty is accepted at all MB dealers in the US and Canada (which is important as I travel to Canada frequently to visit family).
* The warranty will use MB original parts without me having to pay up the nose for that option to be added.
* I won't need to file any claims or deal with any issues of a fight between the dealer and the warranty company on anything or deal with "payment delays".
* It was also the cheapest warranty I looked at when I shopped around using dealers mentioned on the forum.

I guess I should have noted we did not buy our vehicle through a Mercedes dealer. Thus the aftermarket warranty. Zero deductible as well and all the other benefits of a factory warranty. We bought through Elliot Bay Autobrokers in Seattle which sells predominately lease returns direct. Which is how they found our car.

That wasn't the info I recieved from the Mercedes dealership. Unless he was just trying to make us purchase through a dealer, which very well could have been the case. Either way I'm not concerned. Basically can have anyone I trust perform repairs to the vehicle for free so I'm covered.
I have no experience with our local dealer, however have numerous independents that are well renowned so at least have the ability to pick and chose where I want the work done. I would ultimately like to keep the vehicle dealer maintained if possible though.

Thanks for the advice, everyone. So different MB dealers offer different prices on extended warranties? I would think it would be the same price through MB?

That is correct. Most dealership will only sell you the warranty at MSRP ($4100 + 15% service charge). But there area a few dealerships who have become popular on this forum (and are listed above), that will over substantial discounts due to the volume of warranties they sell.

You can also try wheelin' and dealin' on the price -- these guys make money on every warranty they sell and can discount it as an incentive. My dealership wouldn't budge on the price; they knew my vehicle's service history and thus had me by the *****!

Unfortunately that is not correct. The only time the 15% service change is waived is within 30 days of a NEW car purchase. If you purchase a preowned car from a MB dealer, you will still be stuck with the service charge. Erin Mahre was willing to split the service charge with me, hence why I ended up with $3010 OTD.

I extended for 4 more yrs/50k and it came down to Erin Mahre of MB Santa Rosa and Jeff Jackson of Tafel Motors...Jeff happened to be the winner and slightly beat out Erin in price at $3060 out the door.

I had the unfortunate reality of purchasing 2 W204s in a 90 day period (had an accident that totaled my first W204).
My first W204 was purchased from a non-MB dealer and it was a 2013 C300 purchased about 1.5 years or so after its delivery date as used with ~29K miles on it. I extended the warranty on it to 7y/100K miles using MB ELW purchased from a dealer on here without the 15% service charge added. This warranty was refunded after the car was totaled.
My second W204 was a 2014 C300 purchased CPO and I added the CPO ELW to this one using my same contact. This was done within the 30 days of delivery so wasn't an issue.
But the base point is, the service charge can be waived.

You're not correct in this regard. The 15% service charge is up to the dealer and can be waived after 30 days has passed from delivery...

Great info, I had no idea. Maybe if I had known this I could've scored and even better deal!
My first post in this thread. If you search around there are some names that go along with the dealerships -- if I remember correctly, Mr. Jackson @ Tafel, Mr. Boone @ MB Austin, and Ms. Mahre @ MB Santa Rosa.

Did you find out if you can purchase the extended warranty from a MB dealer even though you did not purchase the car from them?
In Canada I was told the same thing I got a 2011 C350, still under factory warranty and my local MB dealer refused to sell me the extended warranty.
