oil C250

I noticed Mobil 1 has a 0w-40 oil that says specifically approved for these cars? what bs marketing contract with Mobil one is this? What other oils can we use that actually don't suck ? Mobil one is awful, on my previous car Royal Purple pulled twice as many miles but they don't make a 0w-40 that I saw.

I agree. In fact, on BITOG, the 0W-40 gets very good reviews.

You may want to double-check that MB Spec 229.5 applies for the turbo M271 engine.
This is the official list of approved oils: http://bevo.mercedes-benz.com/bevoli...nt_action=show

I know every car is different but the last 3 I had simply switching to other oils from Mobile one (which seems to be a standard from the dealers on many manufacturers for whatever reason) yielded far better gas mileage, last longer, and ran smoother and better. Granted, never tried the 0w-40 as it typically was the 5w-30 but quality usually sticks with the brand across their entire range no ?

I would like to make sure I have good quality oil, I tend to drive my car hard. Few red-lines a day, specially when it's this down on power I have no choice (lol).

One question, why are you so concerned over fuel economy when you red line your engine every day ?lol

Since you asked, Amsoil, Pennzoil, Castrol, Liqui Moly, all make a 229.5 approved oil for our cars. Any of those approved oils would be just about as good, if not better, than the Mobil1.

Here is the current list of MB 229.5 approved oils, take your pick http://bevo.mercedes-benz.com/bevolisten/229.5_en.html
Note that Amsoil is not on the list. They make great product but they are a small boutique blender and they don't spend the coin to get their oil actually "approved".

You're going to find your M271 is quite thirsty if you are winding it out all of the time... good luck breaking 18 MPG city average with it. It's a small, rather highly boosted 4 cylinder being tasked with motivating a heavy car. Off boost, it is efficient - when you are working it over, it will drink.

Also, please refrain from calling members "dumb" on here... this forum tries to keep a certain sense of decorum.
