Mother of all Fluids and Service Interval

  1. Engine Oil
    Type: 272
Interval: 10K mile or once a year
    Capacity:
    • RWD 8.5 US qt. (8.0 L)
    • AWD 7.4 US qt. (7.0 L)
Note: You can either drain from pan or suck by dipstick guide. I prefer sucking because it's just easier.

  2. Automatic Transmission
    Type: 722.9
Interval: 39K mile or 60K Km
    Capacity:
    • C250 RWD 9.0 US qt. (8.5 L)
    • C250 AWD 10.3 US qt. (9.7 L)
    • C300 C350 RWD 9.5 US qt. (9.0 L)
    • C300 C350 AWD 10.5 US qt. (9.9 L)
Note: Make sure you drain TC as well!

  3. Manual Transmission
    Type: 716.6
    Interval: Lifetime
    Capacity:
    • C250 1.3 US qt. (1.2 L)
    • C300 1.6 US qt. (1.5 L)
    Note: Very limited resources.

  4. Rear Differential
    Interval: Lifetime
    Capacity: 1.06 US qt. (1.0 L)
Recommended to replace Fill/Drain plug during servicing. Both plugs shares the same part# 3529970032. Torque 50Nm. Use blue loctite during installation.
Note: Although MB doesn't mention service interval for differential fluid and so-called lifetime, I assume 100K mile is good mark to flush.
  5. Front Differential for AWD
    Interval: Lifetime
    Capacity: 1.16 US qt. (1.1 L)
Note: Although MB doesn't mention service interval for differential fluid and so-called lifetime, I assume 100K mile is good mark to flush. Also there isn't separate transfer case. I believe the transfer case is integrated to transmission. Maybe this is reason why we see many AWD auto tranny failure?

  6. Power Steering
    Interval: Lifetime
    Capacity: 0.85 US qt. (0.8 L)
Note: I don't trust "Lifetime fluid". I consider flushing at 100K miles.
  7. Brake Fluid
    Interval: Every 2 year
    Capacity: 0.53 US qt. (0.5 L)
Note: Although specification calls DOT 4+, I've used ATE DOT 4 without any problem. Also brake fluid service interval is time driven. Not mileage.

  8. Antifreeze/Coolant
Interval: 143K mile or evey 15 years
    Capacity: 5.07 US qt. (4.8 L)
Note: This is such a long interval for coolant. Having said that, I can almost guarantee that thermostat will fail before that mark comes. :) You can flush it that time.
Please let me know if any correction is needed!

Bonus. Few regular maintenance item service interval.
  1. Spark Plug
Interval: 91K mile or every 5 years
    OE:
    • NGK PLKR 6A
    • Bosch Platinum Y 7 MMP 33
    Note: Tightening torque: 15 – 22 lb-ft (20 – 30 Nm)

  2. Engine Air Filter
Interval: 26K mile or evey 2 years

  3. Cabin Air Filter
Interval: 26K mile or evey 2 years

  4. Fuel Filter
Interval: 143K mile or evey 15 years
Note: This is quite long interval. I'm not sure whether I want to push that far.

  5. Engine Drive/Serpentine belt
    Interval: couldn't find
Note: Mare sure you replace idle pulley too because it's known failure on 272 engine.

just curious does "TC" stand for "torque converter" or "transfer case" ??

white46 06-25-2015 07:16 PM

torque converter.
There is no separate transfer case for AWD w204 models.

No problem. Glad I could help.

For the transmission, I believe starting 2011 some models use the updated tranny fluid which has the change interval increased to 79k?

I think 26k miles for air filter is a little bit early. Usually 30k for a single air filter, 2 air filters for 40k according to Mercedes is appropriate.

Thanks for the info :y

Depends on where you live and what types of roads you drive on
Did a lot of country driving dirt roads and the air filter was clogged 15K after I replaced it
Inspect it every time you service the car
