You're right a 7k Benz transmission failure. Is 84000 miles premature?
It will go in drive and reverse, but zzzzzzzzz at 5 mph. Or will not go at all.
All service is up to date, transmission was serviced at 55k. Seems like its not all the way in Gear

Interested to know what the tech said caused the failure.
Was 55 k miles the first transmission flush?
Did you 'hammer' the transmission or drive reasonably over its short lifespan?
Good luck with the repair. Maybe the damage is not as expensive as you fear.

could just be the front pump. hope for no metal in the system. pull a trans line off the radiator and start the car to see if there is fluid flowing. if not then pull the trans pan and check for metal shavings.

occasionally I drive my car aggressively. before this happened i noticed, a clack noise when the car would shift down into 2nd at a red light, and when backing over the hump in my garage. It seemed to be coming from left front.(drivers side) I started it this morning, put it in drive and ZZZZZZZZZ, put it in reverse zzzzzzzzzzz. back in drive clack zzzzzzzzz.

I've stripped a few axles in different vehicles and all made a pop and grinding type noise. 02 ram 1500 front passenger axle and a buick rainier passenger front. If it is an open differential it'll put all the power to the least resistance so if it stripped or popped out you won't move.

This is a similar setup to my buick rainier I stripped what would be 2 and 4. Had to replace the half shafts and the cv axle. The splines pretty much rusted away.

Put the parking brake one and have someone hold the brake pedal. Put it in drive and blip the gas if you hear the zzzz noise glance under and see if one of the driveshafts are spinning. If one is say front grab a cv axle if one of them has a grinding feeling its probably stripped

I followed your instructions, and discovered that the noise is coming from the drivers side axel only. I also found black grease in the rim well. A tech is looking at it now.

My car just stopped and everytime it's on D without stepping on the gas, makes a loud noise and if gas is stepped...louder noise and won't even go. Is this the same issue?

The tech confirmed that it's #4. The drivers side axle failed. I found the part at rockauto.com $89.73 - $27.00 for the core.My Indy tech will charge 3hrs in labor. He has an MB parts contact...$426.00 he was told that these are ordered all the time for 4matics.
