oil change advice

I just bought a new leftover 2014 c350 from my local dealer. I took delivery of it 2 weeks ago. Im wondering should I have the oil changed. Im figuring the oil in the car is almost 2 years old. I put almost 300 miles on the car. Any input would be helpful. Thanks.

Check the oil, look at the dipstick and see if the oil is at normal operation level.

In addition, check to see if the oil has a smooth "oily" texture to it. If it's clumpy and has solid contaminates and almost looks dry I would change it.

I always put in 0w-40. Its a better quality oil that the AMGs use. Even though the delership uses 5w-30 for the non-amg variants.

I checked it today, its spotless and right on the level. Just worried that because of its age the oil starts to break down?

Oil does not break down due to age alone. I confirmed this with Quaker State several years ago before using a case of oil I'd had sitting around for an extended period. I went ahead and used it in my Alfa with no issues. You'll be fine.

They all call for 0w40. I'm not sure why your dealership would be putting the AMGs on a different tier and shafting non-AMG owners by putting a different grade of oil in the car unless they are using Florida's climate as an excuse.

Look in the manual, calls for 5w-30 for our w204s or 0w-40.

I've bought a MY2013 left over from dealership in March 2015. I've asked the same question to the dealer prior taking delivery. Apparently everything is fine. Since the car was brand new with full warranty, I'm not to worry.

In my experience with dealerships, inventory is constantly moved around. Your 'leftover' car was more than likely started, and moved (if not far) from time to time. I don't believe anything literally 'sits' around on a dealer lot. Since oil doesn't break down, at least not in the time your car was in inventory, and your cars weren't driven enough to break down the oil, you both should be fine.
