I have a 2012 C300 Sport with 50 thousand on it. It always rode firm, but for the last year or so the ride became so "harsh" I began planning to get rid of it in the Spring. While at the dealer recently for service the advisor looked over my car and said it's too low in the front and the springs are shot. Expecting a big estimate he said it would be covered under warrantee along with an alignment and headlight height adjustment. He also said mine is certainly not the first one that they have done. Car now rides like a Benz should and I think maybe I will keep it awhile longer.

I'm surprised the springs were an issue. They are pretty low tech and one would think pretty bullet proof...the shocks sure, but surprised to hear you had bad springs.
Did he make it sound like it was a common issue?

Interesting issue.

Has anyone else had this done (either under warranty or not)?

It's hard to really determine what is considered "harsh" on a sport model, isn't it?

Advisor said he checks all the C Class cars if they have over 40k miles. Claims he has replaced "more than a few". The car is now actually a couple inches or so higher. I checked the invoice thinking that perhaps "luxury" springs were installed but the part # is for "sport" springs. I wonder also if there are a lot of cars affected.

It can be but to me the car always rode "firm" (a bit too much for my liking) but had apparently deteriorated to the point when I hit a pothole it sounded like the front wheels were coming through the floorboard. And I'm not talking about hitting a crater.

To the OP: did you have an extended warranty? Asking because mine is also a 2012, and now 28 days out of warranty.

Mine is a CPO car and that warrantee is good for approx. another year, so it was covered.

Maybe this is an issue on some 2012 cars. A friend got rid of his 2012 because of ride issues.

I'm always shocked at how I see people plowing over speed bumps. It makes me cringe. But I love that momentary zero-g you get over the railroad tracks. Around here they keep the tracks smooth.

Had this on my 2013 when I went in for alignment. Said springs were bad and replaced them for free.

doesn't help that we all live in the tri state area with horrible road conditions.
suspension is exactly where it needed to be today .
shocks & struts are only covered on factory warranty.
even with the extended Mercedes warranty shocks & struts are not covered .
sucks unless I'm reading it wrong.

I always do a complete stop over speedbumps and always go around pot holes .

Yeah, mine was a lease and it's roughed up slightly. I have two wheels out of round that the seller is going to fix.

Unfortunately it's not a CPO but I have 14 months of factory warranty left.

In Florida the roads are mostly flat and straight, which makes for dull driving. I do know driving can be a bit more interesting up north, especially Massachusetts .
