2013 C350 Sport - New Tires

It's about that time I need to change the tires on my C350. I went to the dealership for an oil change and they told me my tires are almost worn out. They quoted me a ridiculous price on new tires. So I am here to ask anyone with experience getting new tires for this car. Where do you guys recommend I go to get cheaper tires and cheaper mounting and alignment. Thanks

TireRack is about the best place for tire and they include a no charge 2 year hazard warranty. For MA and All-Season, Continental DWS 06 are probably the best tire there is.

Yes, TireRack. You can get all 4 for close to what the dealer charges for 1. Dealer is insane on maintenance items like oil changes, wipers and tires.

TireRack first. Then look for a local tire shop that will either beat or price match them. Unless your car is still under factory warranty or if you have a special relationship, there should be no reason why you should be using the dealer for general maintenance.

Tire Rack every time. I saved 700 bucks on my c300 tires. cost of installation and shipping included. Warranty works out well. Got a puncture, fixed it and sent invoice to TR warranty company who sent me a check within a few days.

Depends on what your situation is... The dealers around me in Philadelphia, PA will price match tire prices so you can shop around and still get them dealer installed without a price mess if you want.

Just don't forget to check around. I purchased my Continental DWS 06 tires at Sears Auto mainly due to having two nasty bubbles end up in my OE ContiProContacts on a Sunday I needed to do a 500+ mile road trip. I have MB Wheel & Tire Plus so I usually do it all at the dealer. Sears was ~$114/tire which was slightly cheaper than Tire Rack. Mind you I needed them installed that day anyway and Sears happened to be the only place open and with the tires in stock... But I lucked out and saved overall.

MB Wheel & Tire was fantastic as well. They paid for two of the DWS 06 tires since two were bubbled out without a hassle.

I love the ExtremeContact DWS 06 very good tires.

I'm hoping that the MB dealer starts carrying them as if I need to use my MB Wheel & Tire I prefer to do it at the dealer.

Discount Tire Direct (DTD) or Tirerack. I've had much better luck with DTD than Tirerack but they are both far better than average tire stores.

As far as tires it depends on whether you plan to run the same tire year round or have two sets for winter and the rest of the year. As others have mentioned the DWS06's are quite good, a bit soft sidewalls compared to a Michelin but nothing an extra 1-2psi doesn't help. They have done well in the freezing rain and wet snowy mess KS gets in the winter, enough so that my wife has confident in them to safely get her around.

If you're a Costco member they often have great deals on Michelins.

I'm with others on Tire Rack. Been using them for years, after checking locally each time. Here in NorCal, tire shops don't even try to compete on price, and several offer nice mount/balance deals with Tire Rack tires.

TireRack is your friend. They have test data, they link you up with an installer - - - but Costco is a really competitive alternative - and (MHO) Michelin makes some great - yet pricey (Mercedes folks should not mind here) tires.........................

ez (still charmed by an Iridium Silver coupe)

Does it matter which installer I chose as long as it is recommended by TireRack? My main choices are NTB, Firestone, Goodyear -- if costs are about the same which installer should I go with?

For an installer, check Tire Rack's website; they have 'partner installers' in many areas. Aside from that, check with your local shops to see which you're most comfortable with, as far as trusting them to do a good job on your MB. This is where Yelp or similar tools, as well as friends' recommendations are better than a widespread forum such as this one.

Discount tire or tire rack as others have stated. It's pathetic what the dealers charge. I think the only people who buy from them are rich enough that an extra thousand or more for a set of tires is no big deal or have no idea they are paying 4-5 times more than they need too.

I like Discount Tire as well. Just put on another set of Continental DWS (DWS 06 is the new version) for just over $700 installed. They do a very good job and are happy to use my nylon sheathed socket and hand torque!

This made me chuckle. I'm going to have to look up one of these.

Didn't think a thing about it until I read it again...it's always a good idea to use protection.
