W204 Rim/Wheel Cleaner

Hello,

I am the owner of a 2008 C230 here in Canada. My winter rims are very dirty and was hoping someone could provide suggestions with what to use? These are pictures of what I have now. I believe the residue is brake dust with a combination of tar. It will not come off no matter how many washes I do.

I used Surf City Code Red Active Wheel CLeaner today to help clean and this was the result. It didn't come out fully but there are some results. Would you please recommend me a product to use to clean my rims.

Thanks

I personally use this Uber Wheel Cleaner when my wheels are really dirty: http://www.autogeek.net/wg-4901.html I recommend this 64oz over the smaller spray bottle because you'll definitely be using it often it works incredibly well.

Some of that looks like tar or road film you can try using Tarminator which can be found at many local stores like autozone and oreilly's http://www.autogeek.net/tarminator.html

Sonax wheel cleaner if you can wait the shipping time. If not, look for Meguairs Dub Wheel Cleaner, most auto stores or walmart has it. Works almost as well but requires minimal agitation.

So I just came back from the wash, I used the Sonax wheel cleaner and the wheels are looking exactly the same Waited 6 minutes, scrubbed with a brush. After I washed I ended up with the same result

It's not going anywhere sadly

If you saw absolutely no change, not one smudge of "dirt" was removed try the Tarmintor or as another poster said WD40. Be careful not to spray the brake components with it too much. What did you do the last time to clean your wheels? Have you used any acid based wheel cleaners that may have abraded your finish?

The best product you can get is PolishAngel Mint+. I used this last year on my rims and now will swear by their products. Here is why. Make sure to use a brush that has strong brissels to clean the brake dust.
