Steering Wheel Accent CANT FIND

Hey guys,

A little silver accent popped out of my 2012 C300 luxury steering wheel. It seems like the dealer wants me to buy the entire back piece but I can't justify doing it. There must be somewhere I can buy this little piece. It looks like it just pops in and out. Hope you guys can help. Thanks (See pics)

Boy, something like that wouldn't surprise me if it wasn't available on its own. Why can you just glue the old one back in?

Got to agree with Alfadude with simply gluing it back in.
The hard part is what type of glue. I am assuming the "chrome" part is actually plastic. What do you see in the hole when the part is out?

So I actually found out that it has been pushed into that part of the steering wheel, rather than falling out. Im going to have to get in there to fix it. Does anyone know how to open it up?

P.S. they unfortunately don't sell that piece separately. The dealer wants $175 for the whole piece and the junk yards won't pop it off for me either.

Personally, I'd pop the other one off. It looks better with a hole than having that silver plastic crap there

Thats actually a pretty good idea. I would definitely agree with you if I couldn't see the airbag components in the hole. Otherwise i would probably do that.

Glad someone asked about this. I noticed the limitation with the online tool and thought it had to be a design error with the website. Given it made no sense for MB not to offer such options simply due to color. I'm with your wife dark interior and dark exterior isnt my thing. Mtex has been around forever, great stuff! Wears very well, looks good and has a nice feel to it. I like leather too, but Mtex can take a beating and yrs of use and still look really good.

I don't think I have ever seen that wheel style before. It looks like a combination of the facelift and pre-facelift wheel.

Are there dimples in the plastic in the back side of the wheel?
