Confused about my cars Sport Package

Hello,
MB Newbie here!

I just bought a 2013 C300 4Matic Sedan Sport with the AMG appearance package. It has the 18in AMG Twin 7 Spoke wheels, the black interior with the red trim and stitching everywhere, red seat belts, AMG mats, flat bottom steering wheel with red stitching, etc. I love it so far but I'm confused as to why it doesn't have paddle shifters?

I was looking at this brochure, and it seems like it should be part of the package that I have:
http://cdn.dealereprocess.com/cdn/br...013-cclass.pdf

This looks to be a Canadian site that's hosting it but the brochure says MBUSA in a few spots. Should it have paddle shifters? Do some come with them while others do not? I have a button that only allows Eco Mode and Sport Mode.

Thanks!

The brochure in the link you posted is from MB USA and represents US model. I don't think C300 had Paddle Shifter as available option in MY2013, this was reserved to C350.

You should have the Eco/sport mode button on the left side of transmission shifter as shown in the picture below.

I do have a US model, sorry, I don't think I made that clear in the post.

That's a 2013 brochure and it says it's an option on the C300 4matic so I'm assuming it was. It's just weird that I have all the other components of the sport package, minus the shifters

Go to page 25..l Look under "Specifications", you'll see that only the C250 Coupe & the C350 Coupe have the "7- speed automatic with Touch Shift control and steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters"

Whereas all 3 Sedan models, including your C300 4Matic Sport, have the "7- speed automatic with Touch Shift control".

Where does it say that^^?

Look on page 12, under Rejuvenating:

Rejuvenating. The new-generation 7-speed automatic shifts with smooth, crisp precision. Driver-adaptive logic and two selectable modes — Sport and ECO— suit your driving style. All models feature our Touch Shift console shifter, while the Coupes add sporty paddle shifters on the steering wheel.

I guess I was just looking at page 24 under the build your own section. If you look at the Sport package it mentions the paddle shifters in the last line. It shows that the package is optional on the c300 but maybe it's not 100% accurate.
Seems like a confusing document.

It's no big deal, I don't really care about the shifters all that much it was just confusing to me because it looked like I should have them. If there aren't any other 2013 c300 4matics out there that have them then they must not have them. I was just curious.

That, it is...

While I can see how it would be great to have them under certain (and rare) instances, and while any driving school instructor will tell you your hands should always be placed at the 10 and 2 o'clock positions on the steering wheel...

... which is also the location where paddle shifters would otherwise be, I think their placement there is less than convenient for every day driving, as I find that it would take some effort for me to keep my hands there for long distance driving.

Of course the typical driving school instructor will also tell you to use a hand-over-hand method for turning the steering wheel:

but nobody drives like that... I know I don't!

Gotta love your seats though... Red stitching - Very nice touch. Enjoy!

I've driven with them on some of the cars. I found I used it the most when the car wanted to keep a low gear when not needed.

Did the car come with dynamic suspension? That usually goes with the paddle shifters.

Does the car have audio 20 or comand? I've never seen the the AMG sports package come with Comand which is why I passed one up.

I love it so far. I've owned a lot of cars in my life but this is my first German automobile. I'm amazed at the fit and finish.

Mine has Command, I'm not familiar with Audio 20. As for Dynamic suspension, that I'm not sure. How do you tell?

I've driven manual transmissions all my life so I thought the paddles might be cool but it seems most people who have them don't use them all that much. So it's really not a big deal to me in the long run.

I had them on my 2012 C350 Coupe and only used them to slow the car by downshifting.

I now have them on my 8 speed BMW 228i and never use them.

On both cars the computer program did a great job while in Sport mode.

The Dynamic Handling Package will have a SPORT button and features shocks/struts that change the ride and feel of the car. In addition it has a different steering rack that provides more road feel.

I ordered my 2013 Coupe in May 2012, the first day dealers could place orders for the MY2013 cars. I ordered it with almost every option available at the time. It included the Sport Package and multimedia package (which included COMAND). The car was built in September 2012, and delivered on October 31, 2012. It was worth the wait to have the car exactly as I wanted.

The only regret is in not having ordered the Dynamic Handling Package.
