Volume Control Malfunction!!

Hey!

I searched but could not find!

My volume control knob doesn't work very well!
As in, I have to rotate it VERY slowly to change volume.
Steering wheel controls work fine!

Dealer said battery, had them change it, no luck!
Recently got a new alternator, also, no luck!

Any ideas?

Lmao battery and alternator for a volume knob issue? what the ****. Anyways I have the same problem and am searching for a solution, I do have warranty though so it might be worth asking the dealer.
I'll do that first.

The volume control uses solid state components that are difficult to repair unless you do electronic circuit board diagnosis and repair. Even if you find an electronic shop to work on it, labor costs would be prohibitive. It’s part of the head unit. MB wants $1300 + labor just for a rebuilt HU. The solution is probably swapping in a used $300 HU with the same part number as the one in your car.

Thanks - So I assume any of the latest software updates and Nav map updates would have to get done again in the donor H/U once installed (assuming that the donor unit wasn’t already updated by the old owner)?

Or do nothing at all. I never use the volume control knob and always the steering wheel controls. Kinda hard to justify spending anything, let alone $1300 or even $300, to fix something semi-broken. But that's just me.

yeah I am probably just going to leave it alone. Not worth the hassle.

Thanks

I would assume the same. But I had Becker MapPilot nav, so it only used the HU for display. The Benz nav unit updates from CD if I recall correctly.
