Steering Angle Sensor part number
I can't find a part number for a steering angle sensor for a 2008 C-300 W204.
Is it perhaps part of a larger assembly such as the Steering Column Switch assembly containing the turn signal lever, cruise control lever, and tilt lever listed several places as 20490005048L35?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Everything else in the car is in perfect condition. I did check the alternator output, the batter is a 6-month old Diehard AGM, there are no vacuum leaks or exhaust leaks and all fuses are intact -- I can't address relays. The car has always had its scheduled maintenance.
Obviously, I have the ESP fault message. I scanned it and found DTCs in the "Distronic" system which translated to a steering angle issue on the detail listing. There are no other faults.
The issue comes and goes. I can drive it for several days with no alerts, then the alert pops up and the cruise control stops working. The car otherwise performs normally.

Wheel speed sensor perhaps? Bad brake light switch? Would be helpful if you posted the actual code numbers you are seeing to increase the chances of someone being able to more quickly diagnose your problem.

Plutoe, is there a part number for the column control module? The diagnostic shows a failure in part N49. I know its likely expensive but I have to fix it. I'm a fairly competent mechanic (in my old age -- I used to drive a Lotus -- you had to be a mechanic just to get home ).

I will try to search again, however I have much to do after 3pm and may not be able to report back today----why not simply call a dealer parts dept or ask for the doughnut girl!!

I tried calling the dealership, they told me that they couldn't help unless I came n and got a Star Diag report to tell them exactly what I needed. I can't justify spending $180 for a diagnostic report to tell me what I already know. Thanks -- I know you probably have more interesting things to do than looking up part numbers. Thanks much for your help. You verified that I wasn't TOTALLY stupid -- the part is very hard to find. You can find them easily for the W203 cars, but not for 204s. When I do find it, I'll let everyone know what I did find. Thanks again.

Hey Bro-----your part number is 204 900 05 04 BL35!! The N49 is integrated into the N80(Column control unit)----It's the old combi switch just under the steering wheel!! Go figure!!

For the record. I obtained the steering column switch unit and installed it yesterday. The install is quite simple provided that you have done your homework on YouTube and elsewhere. the only tense part it taking the gauge cluster trim off. its hard to do without breaking something. The rest is easy. The center bolt for the steering wheel is very tight and it requires a few expletives to break it loose. There is a little "blocking" plug the goes on one of the wiring harness connectors that refuses to go back in but everything else is simple stuff. The hard part was getting the right part number (thanks again, Plutoe). Without much interruption, this can be done in under an hour. If your wife helps, it will take most of the morning (just kidding).

Yes, if my missus had anything to say about it, stuff like this would NEVER get done! Hahahaha
