Changing oil the "conventional way"

Just did my first oil change on my car, just bought it a month ago and service A was due. I did it using the drain plug. Why does everyone seem to frown upon this for these cars? Never heard of siphoning it out until I got this car! Interesting stuff. Thanks all!

I'm sure the dealership does it because they can then do everything from the top, and it's quicker.

I did it from bottom too and it was super easy. Agreed.

Is the filter on the bottom of the car? I haven't had a chance to get my car in the air and really look at it yet.

Filter is on the top of the engine.

Then it makes sense that they suck out the oil, because they can do everything from the top of the car, which saves time over having to put it on a lift.

They have the equipment to do it, which saves time, so that's why they do it that way.

Statistly speaking (yes someone calculated it believe it or not on MBWorld) doing it from the top leaves X% more particles in the tank, therefore adding up over time. When done from the bottom, more of the particles come out and in turn, a cleaner tank.

But yea its easier for them even though they have a lift on every section. :P
Some people park on the road too.

Thanks for the info. Was just curious. Would have taken a total of 15-20 minutes if I didn't unscrew the wrong cover under the car first LOL
