Question Blind Spot Assist

Few weeks ago I've purchased 2012 Mercedes C300 4matic Sport after an accident with the impact to the rear left suspension. Now car is fixed and running very well.
However I noticed that the Blind Spot Assist doesn't work, i.e. the triangle indicators within the side mirrors do not work. I followed the instructions in the Owners Manual on page 211 to activate the radar sensors so the Blind Spot Assist could work. Within the menu "Vehicle" i don't see the "Radar Sensor" option.
Question: Blind Spot Assist feature is an optional feature for 2012 Mercedes C300 4matic ?

Yes, it is an optional feature. Very few of the cars out there have it. If you can't see a way to activate it chances are your car is not equipped with it.

I believe he's saying he has the option. Blind spot often has the sensors behind the bumper. Something was damaged or not connected, take it back to the shop.

He said he could not see the Radar Sensor option listed in the menu to activate it. I took that to mean he did not have that option on the car.

I may be wrong but I don't think it would even show up under the vehicle menu. There's a lot of features that don't show under it that my car has. Maybe OP can clarify this.

The menu doesn't show the option "Radar Sensor".
I do have 4 sensors in the bumper that work fine when I backup the car. I wonder if the blind spot sensors supposed to be in addition to those 4 and are hidden behind the bumper cover?
How does the blind spot sensor look like?

When you scroll down in the multi-function display to Driver Assist Menu is there an option that says Blind Spot Asst? If yes, you have that feature. If no, you do not. That is from page 205 of the 2012 owner's manual.

I had the same thing.. look under the rear bumper you should see white blook on the inside side of the bumper clamped. No need to lift the car. Mine was hanging so i ziptied it to muffler, still trying to find out how to clampit back to the bumper.

Adi-Benz, prior to posting the thread I did use the VIN decoder, but it didn't say anything about Distronic or any similar options.
Alfadude, in the Driver Assist Menu there is no option that says Blind Spot Asst.
arkim989, so after strapping this block did your Blind Spot option start working?

Yes, mine works but only the right side. Left side is tied to the muffler so it gives me red triangle on the mirror because it sees muffler only lol. But in ur case its different.. maybe the wiring is disconected from the sensor? Even if the sensor is just hanging it will work but not accurately. You need to try to get under the car and see whats wrong.

Since they do work in reverse you might want to check the power supply to the sensors when in Drive and in Reverse, they might be wired up into the reverse lights.

This is most likely not the cause, but you never know it might just be that simple.

my guess you dont have rear view camera? Blind spot sensor is white colored square 15cm and its located on the corners of inside side of the rear bumper, more towards the side of the car..

psbenz12, I tried the sensors in Drive and Reverse and they work perfectly fine, giving me warning that I approach some objects.
arkim989, my car has a rear view camera.

Do you also have the Lane Keeping Assist? That was bundled with the Blind Spot Assist as part of the Lane Tracking Package. The Parktronic was a stand alone option by itself.

I don't see the Lane Assist in any of the menus. However I see that I do have a front camera within the rear view mirror base.

Have your VIN decoded and then you will know for sure. Either go to the dealer or here is an online decoder: https://www.vindecoderz.com/EN/Mercedes-Benz/C-CLASS

If you had Blind Spot Assist and it wasn't working (for whatever reason), you would see the option under Driver Assist Menu (as was mentioned). You would also get an "error" message everytime you start the car that would say "Blind Spot Assist Inoperative". You would have to acknowledge that message every time. It would also store the alert in your Messages in the Assist Menu. The fact that you don't have the option in your menu's nor do you see a message tells me your car does not have the feature. The back up sensors you allude to are totally separate from the BLISS sensors.

I used this online decoder and that is why I started this thread.
I.e. based on the information from this VIN decoder it says that my car has Lane Tracking Package (Blind Spot Assist; Lane Keeping Assist).
check it out:
