c180 W204 and W205
faulty cam adjusters/gears

Hi guys

My car makes a cranking sound on startup only,and thereafter engine runs normally.MB says its cam adjusters,so question is can i still drive it for a while since im no position to get it fixed currently.Car no longer under warranty.

I had that problem once. The car sounded like a diesel truck at idle when it first started up. I only had about 26K miles on it when it happened.

Another symptom is a long startup crank. The starter will keep chugging along after you release the key.

See if you can get a quote from an independent Mercedes shop. They just about always cost less than a dealer. You could severely damage your engine if it goes.

mine starts well but only that cranking noise that goes away after 3seconds or so.

Thank you for the advice,i did take it to Mercspec & they changed chain & tensioner,only to find the problem didnt go away.Guess i have to do the Cam gears as well.

Mine is a 2013 and it had the problem but that could just be a random failure I had.

yes they got a P003300 code error.Do you perhaps know what it means?
