Trade Mint 2011 wood interior trim for aluminum?
I'm not sure if anyone would be interested here but I'm looking for a change in my interior. I saw the aluminum in a photo and it looked great. Problem is, I can't find anywhere to purchase. Thought I'd ask the unlikely question of is someone would be interested in a swap!
Thanks

What you saw was the aluminum covering peeling from the plastic carrier. The trim pieces in the doors and center console can all be removed from the car, whether they're aluminum or wood or cf.
They're all manufactured mostly the same way too. Even the wood trim pieces have aluminum underneath. If you look at the side of the wood trim piece you can see there's a metal layer underneath the wood. The layers go: plastic, aluminum, wood, epoxy.
The only difference with the aluminum trim is the plastic carrier is thicker and the aluminum covering goes right on top. There are no middle layers or epoxy top layer.

I love my brushed aluminum trim! It goes nice with a black interior. I think it's considered the base option and I've never seen it in a C350.
I've never been a fan of wood paneling unless it's very dark or black. It's another aspect of the W205 I don't like.

I figured the swap would be hard. I found someone selling a set on ebay though the drivers door has all kind of dings (to be expected I guess)....
