S204... c250 petrol turbo.
Guru required PLEASE.. 2010 C250 CGI. 1.8 TURBO petrol in oil problem.
Hi I have the above car 1.8 turbo c250 cgi,
I recently changed the oil as it appeared I'd slight over filled on my last change.. Not a mistake I make. And changed oil etc 2 weeks ago and put 5.5 litres in leaving it bang on between min and max on the dipstick.
I checked it again yesterday and the level is just over max again and it appears petrol is getting in the oil.
I do have the problem of lots of small journeys and understand that the most likely cause it an injector stuck open and there isn't many options for fuel to get there.. But this is not a good scenario at all.
The car does run fine, doesn't misfire etc but I'm now not going to use it till I can sort this out.
Has anyone had this problem and what was their result as the more info the better.
Thanks

Even if it had of been hot you would not expect a level half way between min and max to go over max on the the dipstick. You can smell the fuel on the dipstick.

No solution here :http://tinyurl.com/ya7x64sg
But it might give you a starting point.

I'm probably going to check the pressure on the injector rail, if that seems OK I'll be removing the injectors and taking them to an engine specialist company who can test them for any faults.
It's quite an uncommon problem since fuel injection came in. But I was keen to find out if anyone else has knowledge on the problem. I love the car and obviously do not want to damage the engine.

2010 C200 CGI
Actually I have the same issue with my 2010 c200 cgi. Through my oil lab testing, I was always 0.8% petrol in my oil but this last test showed a spike to 1.x% which we're not sure of the cause. One theory is because I ran fuel injector cleaner prior to my oil change that it's the reason for the spike. I won't know until my next oil change when I send the current oil for testing. Hope you figure yours out, might give me insight to mine.
I should also mention my car is tuned and it's possible I'm running a richer than normal map.

I would start with a compression test, if 10% off normal compression PSI I would then do a leak down test. Could be the piston rings not sealing among other things. You say you do short trips with it? is the car warmed up before driving? Driving a turbo car cold is horrible for it.

You probably have leaky injectors. When you shut off the engine, the fuel in the high pressure line leaks out of the injector into the manifold and into a cylinder with an open intake valve. This happens every time you shut down the engine. It also happens when you turn on the ignition before starting the car because the fuel pump will try to pressurize the rail to about 40 psi and some of this will blow fuel by a leaky injector. So lots of short trip make the problem worse. Try changing out the injectors. Have you ever replaced the injectors? They are fairly cheap $25 rebuilt, $55 new.

On CGI engines (stratified Charged Gasoline Injection), the fuel rail is at about 120bar and I would imagine the the injector price runs about the same as a diesel engine, around $300.
