Need Help, w204 Knock limit cylinder 4 exceeded
Hello all,
I have a 2012 MB C200 CGI, a few days ago during the cold weather, the car started to shake roughly when starting the engine like it is going to shut off. But when it gets warmer it begins to act normally. I also noticed that when I'm driving at a higher speed then braking to stop at a traffic light the car start losing power at the last second before stopping, RPM drops down and it feels like it will turn off with a little shaking. I scanned it for error codes and there were two codes both same " Knock limit on cylinder 4 was exceeded". My mechanic suggested that it might be oil pump issue and that I should flush the engine and clean it as this loss in power may be happening due to some dirty oil and engine.
I'm having my doubts and I don't want to pay for unnecessary services without fixing the issue.
Any Ideas ??

Hi
I think you should fill up the tank with the highest octane fuel available to you clear the codes and drive for a few weeks to see if the fault code returned, I am betting it doesn’t. I am guessing your car may have had some short trips lately and with winter sometimes the oil companies fiddle with the fuel octane and cold weather additives just may have taken some time to clear it out. Not oil pump related or dirty oil.
Your Mechanic what more can I say here, it is up to you where you take your car to be fixed but it always pays to do your due diligence.

Thanks for replying, I really appreciate it.
For the record, I’m using the recommended fuel which is 95 octane premium. I really don’t know what is the issue here. could it be a leaky cylinder or a fuel line ?
If anybody knows, please tell me what else can give this code fault.
Thanks

Maybe something to do with this :

Just to decrease unnecessary checks costs as it very expensive here in Bahrain and it is hard enough to find a proper mechanic to deal with in the first place.
Thanks again.
