TPMS battery life

I bought my 2011 C new. The TPMS is still original from factory, now seven year and three months old, and is still working. Next new tire purchase is probably another year away. I would think by that time I should get a new set of TPMS even if the original set still works.
It is not good to save some $ up front then the TPMS battery runs down shortly after the new tires are installed.

Any one knows how long the battery will last. I know it varies but want to get some idea. Also is it better to stick to MB genuine TPMS for a better match in specs? Thanks for any reply.

My TPMS batteries died at the 8 year mark on my E350. Costco quoted me about $80 per wheel installed. I was in need of 2 rear tires at the time and went to Discount Tire. The manager offered to replace all four sensors for $40 each with the purchase of 2 tires. While they did not install genuine Mercedes TPMS sensors, they have been working just fine for 12 months.

Have you checked the new TPMS with a pressure gauge to see if its reading is close enough to the car reading? I hope all TPMS' are the same regardless who makes them. I'd guess MB TPMS is much more expensive and not necessarily better.

There are cheap sensors and there are good sensors. Our 2006 Audi still has 3 of the 4 OE sensors working. I've bought cheap sensors, too, figuring they're all the same. This group of sensors started dying off after a few years. Complete waste of $$$.

I have to buy a complete set soon. I'm looking at HUF for $160 for the set. I think that's what I'm going to do.

I did end up buying a set of new HUF pre-programmed sensors. The set of 4 was $145 with shipping included. We have them installed this past Friday and all seems to be well. I haven't figured out how to tell the car there are new sensors fitted, but it's already reading all tire pressures. Maybe I don't have to do anything else?

www.tpms.com Service was good, free shipping was via USPS and they arrived cross-country in 3 days.

Do all new TPMS sensors need programming? Some said after driving for a while the new sensors learned to read the tire pressure. I will have new tires with new sensors soon.

I tried to get Costco $129.95 discount for all four new tires before it expires, so ordered eBay sensors before the seller answered my question that the sensor does require reprogramming. After new tires with new sensors installed, message shows 'Tire Pressure Sensor inoperative'. The car is driven for four days, about 100 miles, the message becomes 'Tire Pressure Sensor active' with a yellow flat tire light on.

Next B service is in March so I will have dealer program them.

Is yours genuine MB sensors? Mine is cheap ones $60 for set of four.
I also reset in the menu twice but still get the same mentioned message. It's my daughter's commute car; She does not care at all TPMS or not.

When I bought the HUF sensors last year (mentioned above), that company offered "not programmed" and "pre-programmed" sensors. All priced the same.
