2012 C250
I'm not sure on how to use this site but here goes. When I first purchased the 2012 C250 it did great. All of a sudden I lost power. So I took it to a German mechanic. They pulled the code and told me I needed to see the dealer. The dealer said there a recall because of a program upgrade on the ECU. They reprogrammed the ECU and it worked for a day and the same thing happened again. This time they said it was a high pressure fuel pump. $1400-1500 down the drain. Has anyone else experienced this situation?

The 4-cylinder car in the 250 engine called M271, and the 6-cylinder engine in the 300/350 called M276, are direct-injection engines which have a high-pressure fuel pump in the engine compartment that is well known to fail now. It's a common problem with these engines and they were failing so badly and frequently that some dealerships did not have enough quantities to service all the troubled cars.

So yes it's a common problem on these engines and you must replace it. The dealership will definitely charge a lot so see if the German independent mechanic can do it for cheaper.
