As per the manual, it's every 105,000km or 65,000 miles, or every 5 years. I ignore the time part.

Thanks, il be ordering one and replacing it as soon as I can. Sadly, I'm 150 000km over due for one. I always thought it was integrated with the fuel pump but I didn't do my research. At least I've been using Techron fuel cleaner every few fill ups.

I was told I would need to replace the pump as it is one unit, but need not to worry about it where I live, so far so good.

Well I called my local Mercedes dealer today and they were shocked I wanted to change my fuel filter.. They had trouble just finding the part in their system and the head mechanic told me out of all the c classes they had this year, never have they touched the fuel filters unless their an issue with them.. Basicly they wait until the thing is clogged up to change it and from what they told me, isn't very often.
They also wanted 420$CAD for the filter which was ridiculous because I found it on ebay for 180$.

Told me the filters are not a maintenance part and didn't know where I got the 105 00km/5year interval since their manuals didn't mention anything about a fuel filter. Any thoughts on this?

Do not believe I've ever seen a fuel filter mentioned on the service sheet on a non-diesel vehicle, the in tank filters are considered "lifetime" in most vehicles. I'll check now, as I'm curious.
This is the sheet for a 2014 C class. Shows the filter at 150k or 15 years.
Added one for a 2008, shows 143k or 15 year.

It's possible the service sheet was updated after your manual was printed. That's why we pull the service sheets from online resources with everything else, so we get the current one. Being that it's a 2008 and was first year, they may have had it listed as an external filter and then changed the recommendation later. Or the manual could be wrong/have a typo. It happens.

I'll add to this, my dealer also has never heard of an interval for the fuel filter. I was planning on changing mine but they seemed in shock I would even do it.
I opted not to for now but am happy to avoid it because of the cost.
I'm at about 160KM now and I think I figured out the long crank problem. I've had I live in the country and the farmers have caused lots of dust and dirt plus all the construction. I opened up my air filter they were full of dirt !!! I change mine so often I could not believe the **** in them after 1month.
For now my problem is solved hahaha

Q1. Does the fuel sensor need replacing? I understand there is an o-ring and we know they can go bad.
Q2. Has anyone has an issue with the fuel sending unit? see pic.
