ECO Start/Stop light always off & no ECO in dashboard
Hi, I bought a second hand 2014 C300 (in great condition but with 193000km - paid 12000$ CAD), however there's one thing I noticed. The ECO Start/Stop feature isn't working. The ECO button light is always off, and pressing it does nothing. There is also no ECO symbol on the dashboard.
I researched this and found a lot of information regarding the yellow light (and the conditions that have to be met) but mine simply doesn't turn on. Based on your experiences, is there anything I can try? Is something broken, or was it simply turned off by the previous owner? Should I worry?
I'm out of warranty so I'm trying to avoid a dealership. I read some threads about apparently there being some fault code that stops Eco from turning on, and Mercedes deleting them?
Thanks!

I've been reading that all over the forum. Is it really that bad..Should I be grateful that it doesn't work?
I don't really care much about the feature. My main concern is, if there is some sort of fault (the manual says that this is the reason why it would be off), should I be worried that something is damaged in the car that could potentially affect other areas?

If you are actually worried, have the car scanned. If not, leave it alone. Could be a stored fault keeping the eco mode off, or something simple like a weak battery.

I have this "issue" but I like it because the start-stop doesn't operate in a proper way to my opinion.
If you clear the errors, it will start working... but will eventually stop again. I've done this 4 times and it stops turning on in 3-4 months.

I have had my car since new (October 2012), 2013 C350 Coupe. I may be the few people that like the eco function. It seems to work just fine for me, and haven't had any issues in my first 64000 miles of ownership so far.

Because GLC300 having a hybrid model, it is likely the auto start / stop would be the same as the hybrid model, which start and stop frequently and does not fail easily. Make sure the oil change using 0w40 oil not 5w40 oil, that will reduce efforts of the auto start. The kick feeling is probably due to AC is on, when there is a load, it would take bigger effort to start engine, then it will have stronger shaking.
