Yea it would be wasteful.
Dual chip doesn't work really.
The 4 chips might but they're usually smaller.

I just chatted with xenonpro.com about LED to replace halogen. They told me LED will not work well with projector but HID will. LED only works with any reflectors.

blind the F out of everyone
That is why HID is the best, however halogen has its own perks to it as well. The goal for me was to stick to halogen, otherwise I would have done hid retrofit.
In terms of sticking to the plan, I think these are the best halogens I've ever used

I just purchased Vosla 55w Superbrights+120 halogen for my GFs 4Runner from Candlepower. Supposed to be 120% as bright as stock. Will report.

Will have a video review soon. It's just going to be a busy this & next week for me, I'll have it done after.
Let us know how those Vosla's go, candlepower seems to preach them. Would be interesting to compare to these as well.

Report back on Vosla Superbrights. They are considerably brighter and project further than stock in the 4Runner. Whiter also. IMO, these are worth considering vs led. Cost less than led also and are 55w.

Timely thread. Looking for a plug and play solution as well either as halogens or LEDs.
I wonder if Supernova V4s is a plug and play solution on LEDs. Shipping anytime now..

I have been talking with a few headlight sellers on Alibaba and Aliexpress. All sellers are very nice and patient. I asked lots of questions mainly focused on 'no dark spots', then 2 sides versus 4 sides chips, silica glass tube or not, 4300K is ideal 6000K is max, etc. They keeping answering my questions and want to keep a long term relationship (well I only need one or two pairs).
I will be in China in February, hope I can see actual LED demo in person in auto parts stores.
I will have LED headlights just a matter of time.

I would check your fuse size also. Higher watts mean higher amperes, which is how fuses are rated.
If you want whiter bulbs, they make them in 55w. I did that to mine, sylvanias, no problems years later

So, I made the video. Couple things though.
- had messed up camera settings
- was gonna do commentary but was too lazy so just threw in some text, good enough haha
- any questions I'll answer them here
