C300 W204 car battery suggestions?

My 3rd party mechanic suggested getting the manufacturer battery direct from Mercedes, since it's going on 8-9 years.

What's the general consensus here on car batteries.

That's remarkable life for an OEM battery. Here in Texas, my car batteries last about 3-4 years. Interestingly, my C350 is turning five in January (from first owner in-service date) and its battery is doing fine, so it may beat the odds ?

I got roughly 6 years out of my OEM batteries, and while Texas is a bit hotter than Toronto in the summer, it's really not that far off. I remember highs this last summer at roughly 36C, and I've been to Las Colinas for work and Dallas, and I've seen 41/42'C, so we're not talking that big of a difference.

These cars are crazy you can be hitting 12V and you'll have some issue with the car. When you put the new battery and hit 12.4v everything's fine. Plus the price of OEM is better than aftermarket stuff.

Original battery is great, mine lasted 8 years. However, my local dealer wanted over 400$ for one. I got an Interstate for 180$ instead with 4 year warranty, no issues yet after 2 years.

My new-to-me 2012 C300 still has its original battery and it's working perfectly fine. I wonder how long it will last given that the car only has 6,000 miles on it.

It's really a function of the environment. If the car was in a hot environment, and/or is in one now (I believe it is if I recall your posts correctly), battery life will take a hit. Temperatures kill batteries.

On REALLY hot summer days, I'd put my C300 in the garage, and open the hood up wide to get rid of that heat in the engine bay. I'd also leave my garage door open to rid the heat.

My 2012 C250 needed a jump the other day. With the hot weather and short driving around town, I am checking the price on replacement battery. The dealer is asking for around $300, And Costco is selling Interstate battery for $199. I might try Interstate if my car die again.

OE battery is an AGM, but not absolutely required. Get a similar cold cranking amp (CCA) rating and reserve capacity. Interstate is a well known and reliable brand. You’ll get different opinions on this, but I recommend asking the shop to use a memory saver so you don’t have to reset everything.
