7G or 7G-Plus? 12 C300 Sport
Hi all, I was reading some old threads on preventive maintenance for my 12 C300 Sport and I cant determine which transmission I have. All the vin decoder sites don't tell me much, including the one on here. My car doesn't shut off when stopped at a light, does it mean I have the 7G? I can't tell which color fluid it has either due to the obvious.
427 AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION 7-SPEEDG
964TRANSMISSION CODE VERSION 64
Also, why does it show its a C280 4MATIC, and not a C300 4MATIC?
Thanks is advance!

Does your C300 have direct injection? How much HP does it make?

There's another thread where we discussed this, but I can't find it but it basically says that A89 automatically means 7G+ but there are 2011 and 2012 cars that don't have A89 when you decode the VIN yet they came filled with the blue fluid meaning it has a 7G+ transmission. In this case, this could be my car which does not have A89, but it's a 2012 C300 4MATIC Sport.
Mercedes claims that they shifted to the 7G+ in 2010-2011 for the W204. I used to think that only cars with the Eco button for start-stop had the 7G+, but based on the above, apparently that's not the only condition to have it.
I will try to dig up that other thread where a popular forum member here told me all this.

If you have the oval holes on the bottom of the oil pan, instead of the round ones, you have a 7G+. My 2011 has the 7G+.

So the A89 reduced friction comment brought up by another member is new to me. I am very surprised to hear if you have the 7G Plus. It may just be worth asking your dealer with the transmission oil change interval is on your car. If it's a relatively long figure (here in Canada, the 7G requires fluid changes every 60,000km, then it's the 7G) then it's the 7G plus (longer than 60,000 = 7G plus just so I'm clear).

2012 M276 W204's don't have an ECO start-stop button. As for the 7G+, I've been under the impression that all M276 equipped W204's have 7G+.

2012 was a weird year. if you have a m276 you probably have a 7g+ but that means c350 most places. If you have a m272, its possible you have the 7g+ if you have late production. transition years its always worth checking.
