2012 C300 NO START
My sons car won't start I can hear the ESL moving it locks and unlocks the wheel. All the lights come on and I can shift in any gear.
Any clue what it can be? I did the battery and tried both keys 50 times notting.

I would double check the battery's voltage. With everything off, it should be at 12 volts at least and during crank, it shouldn't dip below 10 volts. Otherwise, the next thing to check would be the fuse for the starter or the starter itself. Check the fuse box.

I pulled the ESL apart last night even though I heard the motor working and the motor was all black. The motor was not moving the gear all the way to depress the switches part is coming today will update.

11.9 is low mine was at 12 I was having hard crank, changed the battery it was 12.4 and it works like a charm. It sounds weird but I think it's your battery these cars suck a lot of juice.

ya my first steps would of been:
1.scan with a code scanner (if no codes)
2. check all fuses
3. check voltage, put my portable booster on and see if it starts with some help then change the battery depending on what happens.
2012 the ESL was fixed, i hope you didn't pay to much for that motor
I've had hard starts but never no starts on mine. I've also had issues with fuses popping up, so its the cheapest thing to start with.

I checked all the fuses and swapped the relays with my daughters car. I don't think its recognizing the key it has a Mid city Remote Starter in the car and when I try to use that the light blinks 5 times saying it does not recognize the key. I uninstalled and returned back to factory and is still doing the same thing. Could it be the ignition switch?

I've been mulling a remote starter, some people have issues and need to get keys re programmed.
We are kinda just shooting in the dark, get the car scanned. If you don't have one there affordable on amazon, see if there's a code.

If your dash lamps are coming on then the ESL was ok! Sure they fail eventually so a new motor is a good thing. Is your ESL working with new motor and dash lamps still coming on? You need a scan tool to check further..

Hopefully better than They improved timing chains since the 90's
Those ESL motors are so tiny and the brushes just don't last.
When you open them the pcb is usually covered in black dust.

I'm not sure what they improved, but try to find an Esl failure on a 2012+ from my searching it's non existent. I'm sure they fixed what was plaguing the 08-11's.
What OP needs to do is scan for codes, we're all just pissing in the wind until this is done.
My car is a 2012 160,000Km they only thing I've changed was engine oil, filters, tranny fluid, spark plugs, break fluid and secondary air pump 1 under warranty and the other out of warranty because after digging and doing it myself I found the issue.
This car is rock solid I've put 100,000km on it it's been a beast knock on wood.

Knock on wood indeed. can you tell us more about the secondary air pump problem and what you found?
