That’s a good plan. Make sure you use a torque wrench on those bolts.

Remember one one thing too. If it is an impeller shaft it will be totally obvious when pump is removed. So you could remove it to inspect and all it will cost is a gasket. And a bit of time of course.

Just checked Rock Auto, and they do not have the water pump either. All they show is the Aux.
What gives?
How common is the water pump to crap out?

Do you happen I know what the torque specs are on those bolts? I’m currently trying to determine if it’s possible to do this without removing the intake manifold.

I do not off hand. You need the WIS procedure.

On my CLS550 you did not. Some pulleys were in the way. The biggest pain was labeling the bolts because they are so many different lengths. I am talking about the water pump.

I changed the thermostat on a E350 and that was a piece of cake. Neither job is hard with WIS.

However if for any reason you do remove intake and your car has the lever mechanism in front adjusting the intake it is known to break. A cheap but totally pain to get to fix is available. Research if applicable.
