Used Vs New tires

Greetings!

I need new tires on my front axel and in this sport model the tires are staggered on each of the axel. This is my Second time around buying used tires from this site bestusedtires.com. I Recently bought two used rear tires and it has been about 70 days. On my recent trip to my mechanic I had stopped in for an alignment and my Mechanic spotted dry rot and cracking on all 4 tires. My front tires may be have about 10k more miles left on it. However I think it doesn’t owe me anything because I had gotten them for about $155 from the same place. The rep at this online retailer has refunded my money back for my recent rear tire purchase (within a 90day period) and also a 50% off on my front axel tires purchase. I am very tempted to give them another shot considering I am in the hook for two new wheels that is costing me over a $1000.00.

My predicament is since the tires are all not the same size I am not able to find similar tread pattern and the same make. Does it make a huge difference or any difference if the tread patterns are different from the front to the rear and make not being the same.

For the rear axel they only have this as a pair

https://m.bestusedtires.com/2-used-b...tire-503055-10

and for the front the closest to the rear is this one and it was preference (these were the original stock tires)
https://m.bestusedtires.com/2-used-c...-tire-65532-10

should I even consider buying these and save some money or just buy 4 new tires. The new ones that came recommended were these.

look-forward to your thoughts and recommendations.

Thanks.

Ive got a local tire shop that i used to get Contitrac Pros from $50 each. They had 80% tread and were either dealer take offs or plugged / patched. please note, this was with my Passat - I have not gone with my C250 yet.

My point is with used tires, you have to see them and inspect for uneven wear or cupping and CHECK THE DATE CODES.

Ironic ... I am in the process of upgrading tires and wheels and will be selling my OEM Conti Pros ... these are the exact same sizes, 225/40/18 in front and 255/35/18 in back. They have 15,600 miles and one rear tire had a repair (dead center of the tread). Otherwise, like new condition. They're dated 4114, which I believe means made in 41st week of 2014.

Don't have my new ones yet to put on, but would be glad to help out anyone here who's looking for a real nice lightly used set (or pair) like this.

You bought tires from a place that were either very old or drty rotted enough thaey lasted 70 days and you want to try them again? Refund or not, that seems sketchy.

Plus, do you realize that the General new tires in the front are less expensive than the used tires you are looking at for the front.? Or maybe buy new in the front and used in the back for ultimate $avings.

As long as the tires are the same on each axle and the four tires are the same type , like all all-seasons or all summer performance tires, you are probably ok, but why eevn bother when the "savings" is only about $75 for all the same new vs. mismatched used? They might even have $75 of wear on them already./ For what it is worth I would say quit dicking around and just spend a few more dollars on a new set of tires so you get the best overall perforamce and safety from your car?

1) You have a transfer case
2) you could blow it up
3) you replace the transmission
4) because you saved $200

Seriously, just buy new tires that are the proper sizes (and same brand/model) and don't worry about rotting or tearing or weird noises and stuff. And you have a piece of mind knowing that you won't damage your car.

Tom, do you know the tread depth? I am not sure how long these last...different contitrack are put on when from the factory then when you buy them. The OEM's were out quickly, so they can get you for a second set soon - esp if leasing

I may be interested. HOW FAR FORM THE WEAR BAR ARE THEY?

We've only had our car 8k miles...and we are getting fairly close to the wear bar. They looked newer when we got the car pre-owned

Used tires are chancy. I’d recommend buying new tires, problems are minimal. Go on tire rack and buy a new set even if it hurts a lil. On German cars I find continental and Michelin wear the best. I hear the dws6 tires are popular and good.

Fronts are 225/40/18; new ContiPros in this size are $185 each at Tire Rack. Rears are 255/35/18 and $221 ea. Or $ 812 for set of four. Shipping is free from Tire Rack.

What's a fair price? Maybe $75 ea for the fronts and $90 ea for the rears, a total of $ 330, plus shipping ... how does that sound?

what's the price of those? That will determine bad *** or not

and what's the wear rating?

I mean, Pirelli P-Zeros are awesome tires, but so sticky they wear out too quickly.
