I wouldn’t even recommend you touching the transmission fluid. The only reason to touch it would be if you’re changing it at the recommended service interval. And if that’s being done I would recommend this being done at MB. Do not go anywhere else. This is a job that needs to be done by a cerified MB dealer.
when I was looking to do mine, some guys instantly said they don’t touch MB because it requires special tools and temperature sensors, others jumped at the idea.
one guy wanted to “flush” it - which didn’t include dropping the pan and replacing the filter.
the other guy jumped on it saying no problem. Only problem was this same guy told me that my other cars transmission was “completely” gone and quotes me $3k for a new one. I refused and told him forget it. It’s now been 2 years since...... same tranny. No issues. All it needed was a proper flush/filter service for $200. So clearly he wasn’t that reliable either.
transmission is tricky with these 7 speeds high performance cars, have it done right by a proper authorized tech. It’s a critical component of the car and costs a fortune to replace should an idiot does a poor job.

There isn’t a dipstick.
As for the above, I’ve done a transmission fluid change on a 2010 C350, it took me about 2.5 hours in my garage.
If you’re mechanically inclined and purchase the tools, it’s an easy job.

Straight forward job, if you have some mechanical skills.
There are several post in this forum, how to proceed.

Years ago was still in school helped out a friend for free, I had a VW auto transmission out in pieces on a table, there was no drive forward or reverse.
I used a broom stick to help, but did had a manual(book) with some photos.
The pump-drive star-coupling was broke right at the inside rear of the transmission.
I would like to do this myself...., the reason I take it to the dealer is I have no proper way to lift the car level properly and safely in my garage.

It definitley does not have to be done by a dealer. I take my car to an idependent shop I trust and have them do it. Actually, I just left my car there earlier this morning to have this done. This is the second time they are changing it because of teh miles I have put on the car.

When I did mine, gathering/buying all the tools and fluid I needed to do the job, it cost me the same as if I had the dealer do it for me.
You would only save if you had to do the fluid change the second time around since you already have the tools needed.
So do it yourself if you're capable and will be keeping the car long enough to do a second transmission oil change.

Correct, the cost does get comparative with the dealer prices if you need to purchase the tools.
The cost (in CDN) for me was:
$234
Fluid/gasket/filter/bolts/washers/overflow pipe/TC drain plug
$213
MityVac MV6400 Fluid Dispenser
$26
MityVac MVA588 Mercedes adapter
$41
Dual laser infrared thermometer
$514 Total
A transmission service here is $600 + tax so I saved $115.
But I used the dispenser to fill the front and rear diff as well. A front/rear diff service cost me $44 in fluid so the addition of the dispenser price is definitely worth it from getting a front diff service for $22 and completed in 20 minutes after the transmission service.

I have a C250 so I did not have to do the diff, that's my understanding.
Here's cost:
1. $156.00 - Mercedes 722.9 Transmission Service Kit - Pentosin 7229LATE (FCP Euro)
2. $14.99 2 Gal. Home And Garden Sprayer (Harbor Freight)
3. $3.99 Auto Transmission Fluid Filling Drive Line Filler Adapter ATF For Benz 722.9 (ebay)
4. $149.99 iCarSoft scanner (one time investment for multi purposes)
or
$41.00 for thermometer.
