I’m wondering something. I just did my 80k service and it told me to do spark plugs, I did them at 60k. Why is it telling me to do it again after only 20k? Service manual says nothing about needing to do that at 80k. Thanks

Spark plugs are typically done at 100,000 miles. 60k sounds too early. Pull your manual and it will list the intervals.

I believe the 100k is for the 272 engine, mine is the 276(‘13 c300), manual does state to do plugs at 60k, then 120k I believe.

That is correct.

I have all of the Service Booklets here:

https://mbworld.org/forums/c-class-w...re-thread.html

2013 C-Class with M276 gets spark plugs at 60,000 miles.

Are you saying the car is now showing the need for a Service 12 again at 80,000 miles? Or is there a mistake in my guides somewhere that’s telling you they need replaced?

If it’s the former, my best guess is that the Service wasn’t recorded/saved at 60,000 miles and has popped up again.

If it’s the latter, let me know where so I can remove the info until it can be corrected.

Thanks!

It wasn't clear what you had. That's why I suggested to pull the manual to verify.

If you're getting a message on the odometer then it was not set correctly.

Mercedes Benz of Raleigh has an index of manuals if you need to download a PDF.

as far as I know it’s 60k to change them, it shows that in the booklet and the Benz dealer said the same. I think something is wrong with car’s maintenance display, all services were fully done and I put full service down in the reset which is why I’m a bit puzzled. Was just wondering what’s going on and if someone knew.

its ok. I can see your point but then idk what was done wrong then. The service I just did was a B3.

Typically service A and Service B are done in 20,000 mile increments.

The number at the end means how many times. So B3 is third time

Can you post a screen shot?

unfortunately I cleared the service reminder. If B3 is the 60k mark that’s confusing as I cleared every service and I’m sure the dealer did the same when they did the maintenance. This seems really weird.

actually, a while back the dealer did a Ecu update, do you guys think maybe that’s it?

I doubt an ECU update would cause that. Something was not set right. I’ve seen mechanics miss simple things or break stuff because they are in a rush.

I would refer to his 1st post docs.

maybe I’m not getting it but my understanding was an A service was pretty much just an oil change, a B service was oil change/air filter/cabin filter/brake flush. Then maybe an additional service or two at a mileage marker. Still not sure why a service 12 is being called for so soon. Am I wrong on this?

Yes, it said service 12. I recorded all of them on a note pad. I guess that maybe the spark plugs were not counted as being done somehow then.

On second thought, there is the possibly of a faulty update.

So I should not have said that it's unlikely. It does happen every once in a while.

They can revert back to the previous.

I would contact the dealer. They should not charge you to take a look.

Hi Just 204,

That looks correct as it matches the chart in post #1

A/B 1 = A service, Oil Change, Brake Fluid Change
