Some sort of Chirping, Creaking Nose coming out of Drivers Side A/C Vent
Seems when it's cold that I get this chirping, creaking noise that comes out of the A/C unit no matter what setting the A/C is on. It's not constant and there is no rhythm or rhyme to how many times it happens. (it's almost like a one second woop..... woop...) does NOT sound like crickets chirping. But always seems to be the first 10-20 minutes of a drive whenever its near freezing out.
It was 36 yesterday but then today was in the mid 60s and I still got the chirping I thought hmm that's odd.
Any tips or suggestions?
Would I have any luck trying to get the dealer to honor the HVAC Class action as part of this? Or having the dealer do the work then submitting to the class action for settlement. I am within the 8 year range but my original warranty and Extended Warranties are expired.
EDIT: Mods please move to the coupe section. Thanks

As far as the dealer, getting your money refunded is a long and annoying experience from my past situations. The dealer will charge you through the nose on their cost, it’s a relatively easy job. It comes down to how much your time is worth going back and forth to get your money back.

I guess it's possible that I could DIY (i've watched the youtube videos seems like maybe an hour job) but I agree with the fact that it should not be going on me in a 7 year old car... However I'm out of warranty so not sure what leg I have to stand on.
I see the part on amazon for $45, the official OEM part for $125 and the part from Mercedes is $300. But I could maybe settle for Labor only. What did they run you for that? 190 hour? What does it take them an hour? (or what do they bill it at I should ask)
I wouldn’t have much faith in a $45 part, cheap parts=poor quality. I seriously doubt a dealer will let you supply your own part. They will probably charge more on labor if they treat it as a cash job, dealers multiply the posted job time (warranty time) to make a lot more money. Techs love customer pay jobs because they get a lot more for the same job. I’d say try this, buy the OEM part and find a competent Mercedes tech who will do it on the side for you, a lot of guys would be receptive to the opportunity for extra cash. Or do it yourself if your confident
