W204 C300 6-Speed
Question Need some assistance about pedals on a C300 6-Speed

I have a 2008 C300 6-Speed that I have been driving for about a month now. I really love the car but the one thing that is slightly annoying is that the brake pedal and gas pedal are so far away from each other. Im looking to make that gap even an inch or 2 closer. I miss being able to heel toe with the side of my foot for downshifts. I have a size 15 shoe so it is normally easy for me but damn these 2 pedals are far apart. Picked up the car for an absolute steal and am defiantly going to have it for a long long time! Only 79000 miles!

Thanks in advance!

Not to be a wise guy but I don’t think a luxury sport model is deigned you heel toe shift. I have the same car but see no need for that kind of shifting. For one thing the throw is to long.

Maybe some wood pieces.

VitovH, you must be driving it wrong. I heel toe all the time in this car. I find the pedal placement fine for my 10.5 US shoe. I can do it either with my toe on the brake and heel on the gas, or by placing the ball of my foot on the right side of the brake pedal and rotating over slightly to reach the gas pedal (without using the heel). The only thing it is missing is engine/exhaust noise! Oh, and about 150 more horsepower.

I don't know what you can do about a size 15 shoe, though. I don't know if it's possible to bend the pedals over. Maybe if the gas pedal weren't hinged at the bottom, but unfortunately it is!

Very possible that I’m driving it wrong. If I wanted to drive it like I stole it I would have gotten a much more powerful and performance oriented car.

Enjoy

Wanting to heel-toe does not mean you're driving it too hard.

My father owned a 2009 C300 6-speed for 3 years like 2011-2014 or something and I don't know how you guys put up with it. The absolute worst manual transmission I've ever experienced. I love a good manual (I own an ND Miata and the manual is sublime), but Mercedes was right to stick to automatics if that was the best they could do.

I hear a lot of complaining about the manual in this car but it's really not bad. People of course will get spoiled by a Miata (I had one) or an s2000 and think that everything needs to be that good. The question is can I command shifts when I want and heel-toe? The answer is yes in this car, and for a 2011 model sport luxury sedan, that's better than I can say about most!

If the w204 paddle shifters in the AMG C63 were any good, I probably would've went that route. But apparently there is significant lag in the actuation.

VitoH I was just teasing

No worries on the teasing. Typical German rubbery shifting. Did the C63 have a MCT transmission? Those shift quickly.

TBH I never even test drove a non-manual W204

But I did watch a lot of videos with both the MCT and the 7GTronic (?) and they were both way slower shifting that my old 2007 Jaguar XKR which to me had set the minimum standard for paddle responsiveness. I just knew from the videos it wasn't going to work for me.
