got a bit of an oil leak that looks to be coming from around the starter. everything is dry above it but wet around it and below. have cleaned it and gone for a drive and fresh oil is back in that area.
is there a seal on these staters that could need replacing or is there another spot that commonly fails around this area.

At 200,000km I think that you should order a new starter motor and drop that one in the bin, they just stop with no warning.
While the starter is out check above where it sits for oil leaking from the oil filter housing where it bolt to the block and also where the oil cooler bolts to the
oil filter housing.
These two areas was where mine was leaking and causing oil to collect at the sump drain plug area.
Mine is supercharged while yours in turbo but I think the oil filter housing would be the same.
I have the same problem, oil on the alternator and on the oil pan. All indicates that is the oil filter housing and oil-water cooler gaskets.
Ordered everything and it's just a mater of days to do the job.
On my C250 2013 oil dripped from oil filter housing and killed the starter.
I replaced the oil filer housing and a reman started and it's been good for a year now almost.
Seems with the W204 no matter which engine the oil filter housing gaskets will leak at some point and need to be replaced. I replaced the gaskets last year in my M272 engine with 150,000 miles.
