Torque specs for breather oil separator

Hi All,

Can someone please provide me with the WIS docs or torque spec for the reverse/left threaded bolt that goes through the Crankcase breather oil separator ?

This is for my 2010 C300 sport rwd.

Thanks!

I just tightened it to what I felt was equal to it coming off. The rotation of the cam will work to keep the bolt tightened.

If you have a torque wrench, you could always reverse it and see how much it takes to break it loose.

I over-torqued this bolt to about 9nm on my m273 engine..thankfully I think it’s fine. I ordered the new bolt. Should I just leave it alone, or replace the bolt and torque it properly?

When I replaced my oil drip pan I did not use a torque wrench for the bolt. I used my judgement when tightening it down.

It is totally up to you. Did you do the 90 degrees stage 2, or just 9nm? Either way I "think" its fine.

Is the cover installed? I personally would not be messing with the cover if its installed, I think that gasket is thin and flimsy and should probably be replaced every time the cover is removed. The gasket on the drivers side cover seems more durable and can be reinstalled.

I didn’t do the 90 degrees after 9nm. And yes, I replaced the drip pan and the cover..I don’t really want to open it up and re-do it, but it’s definitely on my mind.

Then redo it. Im sure the bolt is fine and doesnt need to be replaced but since you have a new one replace it.

I have gone back and redone things I didnt think I did right the first time. Seems you are worried about it so just get it done and redo it.

is it more likely to do damage loosening an over torqued fitting, than over torquing it in the first place?
