Attached are instructions for adjusting the shift rod. It seems like a simple enough procedure. It may be that it just needs a slight adjustment.

The ragged stuff is just residual rubber.

Yeah, I don't know why being level is necessary.

Thanks for your post!

Thank you so much, my dear friend! I bought my car at an auction a year ago, and it had this awful humming noise, loud operation, and vibrations starting from 2,000 RPM. Based on the sound, you’d think I had a 6-liter engine under the hood! The car was also super sluggish during acceleration. After sitting for a few days, it would run a bit better, but then the issues would come right back.

I replaced the idler pulleys, the tensioner, the vacuum pump, and the transmission fluid. Eventually, I thought it was the timing chain, so I replaced that too. Finally, I stumbled upon your post, bought a $40 motor mount, and swapped it out. My ears literally popped from how quiet it suddenly got in the cabin! Now the car drives like a rocket. Thank you again, my dear friend

After replacing my engine and transmission mounts, I went on to fit a pedal booster. I chose roar pedal, set on a mild setting. Set up correctly it compensated for the built in throttle damping that is part of Mercedes drive by wire.
Totally transformed my C250.
